DerekR
The news rhis past week of the passing of former TV presenter Cliff Michelmore reminded me of t he EFC Amateur Cup match at Alvechurch. There had been some heavy snow during the previous week and the league match that Cliff and his crew were scheduled to cover for MOTD was cancelled, and our match at Alvechurch was able to go ahead as a result of massive efforts by the club and community. I remember travelling by special train and watching the game from a vantage point around the foot of the scaffolding tower being used bu the TV crew. I don't remember the score, but clearly recall the snowball fight we had on the platform at Alvechurch station whilst waiting for our return train. Do any of the rest of you have any recollections of this event?
littlehampton
Derek, the match was a FA Amateur Cup 4th Round Tie played at Lye Meadow, Alvechurch, played on Saturday 6th March 1965. Enfield won the match 3-1 with goals scored by Broomfield, Thomas, and Desmond. Sure other people will have fond memories of a good away win for the E's. OldTowner
Ha Ha. Remember the snowballs flying around on the platform and I am sure that some nice ladies made loads of hot drinks. Also us Enfild lot from Big London Town telling the home crowd about the delights of London. Good memories.
