Bideford Away on Tuesday Night

I would like to wish the players and management who make the trip to Bideford Tuesday night all the best.

It's going to be a tough night, with them working in their day jobs, then undertaking the 4+ hour drive, to play on a pitch that is known for it's strong winds, before getting home just a few hours before they have to go back to work in their day jobs.

Unfortunately, with my mum poorly at the moment, I won't be able to make the trip myself, so there won't be any photos for you to look through from this match.

So good luck to the team, and I hope that any supporter who is making the journey has a good trip.

All the best lads on a long trip to Bideford.

You have all been playing well recently that goal and win not far off.

Firstly, despite losing well done to the players and management for the effort they've put in to make it to the game tonight.

Although it's disappointing to lose, a bigger worry for me is that despite playing some good football recently, and again tonight against Bideford it seems we had the majority of the play, we've become toothless in front of goal with only 1 goal in 4 games.

With some very difficult games coming up it's a worrying trend.

Are you really worried? It's not like we've anything to play for now, just seems like the season is fizzling out.

Always a tall ask getting anything at Bideford given the circumstances. Sounds like we ran them close, though.

We've got Charlie Mpi back for the Easter games, haven't we? If so, that should be a boost to our team and especially the front line.

Well done to Sean Fraser on his 160th cap tonight.

Very disappointing   Bideford are where they are for a reason  19 teams have played there so far this season   only 3 have come away with nothing ( including us)  Weve slipped down another place tonight and the team one point behind have 2 in hand Lets not let this season fizzle out  With 6 games left weve lost 3 more than weve won  let that be a challenge to the team  End up winning more than we lose.

3spirit, sounds like you're resigned to seeing the season 'fizzling out'.

We are now down to 15th position in the table and personally I'd like to see us improve on last season and not just go through the motions for the rest of the season.

We were informed that Charlie Mpi would be back for the Easter period but apart from him not having played for a while, I'm really not sure if it would be the right thing to do to put Charlie in at the expense of other players.

Many thanks to the fans that made the journey down to Bideford, massive respect.

For those not there, it was a bit of a recurring theme for the last few games, where we have missed too many chances, and where our utter dominance did not yield the points it should have done, obviously everyone will look at the strikers and that is a fair assessment, however it was also from other parts, for example we put in some great corners and free kicks in to the box last night but did not get enough on it etc.

We should have gone one up in the first minute where a Warren Harris strike was going in at the back post only to hit Lee Barney a few yards out and deflect over, and that set the tone unfortunately.

Obviously we know that losing Charlie and then losing Eddie unexpectedly and in the circumstances it would hurt us as both are very good strikers in different ways, but being in the position we were we are not going to go out and spend money on a striker for what we have left of the season for what are effectively dead rubber games, so  we will have to get through with what we have until the end of the season, as even if we were going to go all out for a top striker, the ones we want for next season are all under contract until the end of the season.

I can say now that one we plan on getting in the summer is very exciting, and is a proven goalscorer.

To top it off  a frustrating evening a poor tackle on young Joe Grant has led to him having to go to the hospital this morning for an x ray, however we will welcome Charlie Mpi back for both games this weekend.

One big positive from last night was the performance of young Adam New at centre back, who at only just 17 came in and did very well, he is a good size and attacked a lot of the balls, he is obviously raw, however he showed that he has the ability to play at this level, and we were delighted with him.

I would like to see our team finish as high as they can, too but we have to recognise that we have lost two of our most creative forwards up front [for different reasons] and so the goals have dried up somewhat.

Bakes has put a very honest post up here, which explains the circumstances.

I would definitely start Charlie in the Easter games, as things just haven't gone for us lately and he brings pace and physicality to proceedings, which shouldn't be underestimated.

Neil  Thanks for your assessment of last nights defeat  Now we are in "dead rubber" "nothing to play for" mode Im sure our recent bad run has just been bad luck with our opponents all of whom have very much had something to play for Our last eight games 6points from 24 have been against 4 teams with excellent play-off prospects and 4 teams desperate to avoid the drop  ( even Bideford can still get 54)  But I think you and Jon are right to be concentrating on next season After the initial interest the type of crowds necessary will only come to the new stadium to watch a successful team Can I ask ( and have no problem if you dont want to answer) if the excellent striker you alluded to is just on a wish list or if subject to agreeing terms he has indicated a willingness to come on board? also are you and Jon confident of retaining all the members of the current squad you would wish to?  Thank You
