I don't agree with publicly criticising a player on here (unless the are a total twat) I like scott Harris he works his socks off and battles for everything and I feel that some people need to remember that he first and foremost a slough player and also he is likely to be a regular for a bit so I can't understand the pops. I'm gutted to lose smith. But I know Scott will give 100% and will score a good few goals.

Scott Harris has been a huge asset for Slough Town. He doesn't deserve any of the negative treatment that has been thrown his way on here. Sloughboy, you are entitled to your opinion, that is what this forum is for. Here is my opinion. I have read through a lot of your posts and have come up with the conclusion that you have no clue what you're talking about. Do you know anything about football?

Not wanting to take sides or start World War 3 but what pisses me off is that a supporter cannot have an opinion on some player that differs from the club view.

A successful fans forum is about ALL supporters having a voice, as long as they obey the rules of the forum.

As much as I like hearing the views of Bakes and Unders and any player that wishes to comment, this forum is supposed to be for the fans !

I don't know Sloughboy personally but has he really said something so out of order?

As an example, I didn't rate Steve Daly [a past centre half] as highly as some fans did when he was at the club but he still went on to play a huge amount of games for Slough under various managers and turned out to be a great servant to the club and proved to have the club at heart. Admirable qualities indeed.

A fan's opinion counts for nothing. Sometimes we are wrong about players and sometimes we're proved right.

Everyone sees different qualities and negatives in every player, that's football chat. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry 3spirit but when a massive chunk of fans don't want to come on the forum any more because of personal comments or taking a thread and start talking about another player all together you got to wonder if it's still successful or if people have got "pissed off" and leave it all together I only looked at this thread because of a comment made on Twitter. Every post since Christmas has gone unread on mine. If opinions were constructive and debate wasn't personally wouldn't have an issue but this forum has become any thing but that.

Is there moderators on this forum? I ask as many of the other forums I've been either a member of or have read have a few moderators that will monitor threads and posts to ensure there is nothing our of order and that threads are kept on topic. They will talk together and decide if a post over steps the mark etc and decide from there any warnings / banning / post removal is required. I think it really helps to keep any forum a decent place to go and read / comment about your chosen topic.

The right thing has eventually happened here which is the thread about Ed leaving has got so far off topic it's crazy so someone has started a thread about Scott Harris. Exactly the right thing to do.

Has anyone seen SloughFlyer and Sloughboy in the same room, both joined the forum the same day, both tend to be active around the same time... coincidence I'm sure and when the mods close this thread it may be looked at. ;)

I know exactly who Slough Flyer is Nick, and he is a genuine good guy and a proper fan, I don't know Slough Boy so cant comment on him, but he has his right of view anyway, however pretty sure that they are not the same person.

Hammer Rebel, I'm bewildered by your assumption that quote 'a massive chunk of fans don't want to come on the forum ' as recently we've had a number of new and old posters putting posts up. You only have to look at the bottom of the forum page at any one time, to see that the forum is well visited by many, which doesn't back up your claim.

I don't want you not to visit the forum [ or anyone of your family] as to me everyone is entitled to post as long as they stick to the rules of the forum.

However, I can't see what crime Sloughboy has said so terrible to get all this over the top flak.

I am a moderator, Slough Flyer. I believe in free speech as long as it conforms to the rules of the forum.

I also believe that not everyone will be of the same opinion, so any open minded moderator should allow certain threads to go on.

I agree that a thread on Scott Harris was the right thing to do, as the Ed Smith thread went off kilter but this veering off subjects happens a lot on threads, which unlike this subject, often goes under the radar.

......but Ryan Hope does?

RebelJoe1971, you want to make your mind up. You ran down Ryan Hope about a month ago, then retracted it a couple of weeks later. What's the difference with Scott Harris?

I'm not saying you are wrong to voice your opinion[ I welcome yours and all polite opinion] and we all see things good and bad at different times.

Just don't think hypocrites in glass houses should through stones.

Yes 3spirit, I retracted my statement. When would you see a hypocrite do that? How many games has Scott Harris played for Slough and how many has Ryan Hope played?

I was still making my mind up about Ryan Hope, as was a few others. We know what Scott brings to the team and have done for a while.

I don't know how you can call anyone a hypocrite   :511:

I just did.

I'm not looking for an argument with you,RebelJoe1971.  I'm making a statement, that we're all guilty of saying things about players. Sometimes we're right and sometimes we're wrong but least it leads to debate.

Sloughboy was entitled to say what he felt, just as you are but we can't have it both ways that one person is allowed to make comments and another is not.

3spirit just going by comments being made at the games... And no I am not talking about my mother she can defend herself as I am sure you know.

My issue is that the debates on here go personal and maybe you can't see it.

Hammer Rebel, you've got to be joking, how is talking about Scott Harris's football skills personal?

It's not got anything to do with being personal. If it was I wouldn't use the forum.

The way I see it is that this forum is supposed to be for ALL fans to talk about Slough Town FC but it seems that we can only comment on the certain things, that are deemed correct by those privileged few who have formed friendships with players etc. rather than talk openly.

Whereas if you dare to speak your mind on here, that differs to popular opinion, you get castigated and hung out to dry.

That is not being fair to all sides of the debate, is it?

As a moderator I try to be impartial to different views but of course as a fan of the team I have my own views on subjects.

I'm not looking to goad you, Hammer Rebel, I'm just trying to get my point across that this forum is nowhere near as bad as people make out and definitely not personal.

If we only get one view on things how can there ever be a discussion about anything?

I didn't say you were being personally I was debating that you said nothing had been said that is personal! I disagree and no I am not joking. When a thread which was aimed at saying goodbye to ed and turned into a Scott thread and some of the comments are what I deem personal.

ALSO I have nothing to do with the club. I don't know the players personally so this is purely from what I read and how I would feel if it was about me. And hang out to dry is a little dramatic i was just stating my opinion on what has been said but seems that's not allowed either
