Without wishing to sound too negative, can someone confirm whether, should we finish in the bottom four, we will effectively suffer two relegations? (ie, going from Level 6 to Level 8)

Any idea of the type of team that will be in that division? Would we still be higher than London Colney, Hemel Hempstead or Sandridge Rovers??

No, there is no relegation for the bottom four this season, they stay in the Ryman Premier which slips down to level 7 in the pyramid.

Hemel could be in the Premier next season if they come in the top six of Div 1 North or come seventh and win the play-off with the seventh-placed team in Div 1 South. Fortunately there is no danger of either London Colney or Sendridge Rovers joining us next season but the Woood is a strong possibility.

OK Rob, as I see it, if we finish anywhere between 2nd and 13th we get automatic promotion into Div 1 Conference so long as we hit all the necessary criteria. If we finish anywhere between 14th and 20th we are in the play offs with 2 further places in Div 1 Conference up for grabs.

As I understand it, to achieve this we have to resign from the Ryman by 31 Dec 2003 and I am assuming that this has already been dealt with by the Club. So, in the event we don't make Div 1 Conference, either automatically or via the play offs (which is looking an ever increasing possibility) and we have already resigned from the Ryman for 2004/5, where does that leave us at the end of the season? Would we have an option to join what would be the new Doc Martens Premier Div.

Help me out Rob, I'm getting very confused.

So if we take current league standings (Top 14 go elsewhere and the 15th place team (Kingstonian) wins the play offs for arguments sake) then our new look Ryman premier will look like this

Bishop's Stortford

Bedford Town

Hitchin Town

St Albans City

Braintree Town

Northwood

Aylesbury United

Harrow Borough

Billericay Town

Cheshunt

Dunstable Town

Yeading

Leyton

Wingate & Finchley

Hemel Hempstead Town

Lewes

Windsor & Eton

Dulwich Hamlet

Hampton & Richmond Borough

Worthing

Slough Town

Croydon Atheletic or Harlow Town

At least there is a few booze train trips there <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

The 'resignation by December 31st' issue intrigues me. I read somewhere that the Executives of the Doc Martens and the Unibond have a similar rule which they have agreed to relax this season in the light of the proposed re-structuring and The Ryman's opposition to it.

In logic [and what has logic got to do with it?], rather than knowledge, if a club resigns from the Ryman League prior to December 31st, and then the Ryman League's challenge is successful, the club concerned would have to apply to come back. [Memo to Gibbo: Don't forget to send a Christmas card to Alan Turvey and Nick Robinson.] That is probably one of the reasons that a number of Chairmen have one arm around the Executive of the Ryman League and signed the cheque for entry to the Conference with the other.

Alternatively, if a club didn't resign by December 31st and the Ryman challenge is unsuccessful, the club could resign early next year. I imagine that the penalty for 'late' resignation is a fine rather than a couple of years at Guantanimo Bay.

The chap who used to drive the red tractor will have it all comfortably in hand.

So, say for arguments sake, 7 clubs will have resigned from the Ryman League by December 31st that do not qualify for Conference 2 for whatever reason. Whether any legal action succeeds or not they will still have to go back to the Ryman League cap in hand to plead for re-instatement, and then it is up to the League to decide which division they play in, they may say, 'you resigned, you start again in Division 2'.

We shall see anyway, no doubt this one will run and run.

Wingate & Finchley Well which one is it in?

Hemel Hempstead Town Xmas and Easter games - Booze Bus

Hampton & Richmond Borough Booze Train

Worthing Another South Coast Trip

Slough Town Depends where they will play

Croydon Atheletic or Harlow Town Both Pointless

No trips to god awful places like Hayes, Thurrock, Hendon, Grays, Ford, Heybridge and Basingstoke - Not normal booze train locations.

Don't get me wrong I want to get into the new league, but we'd keep some of the best trips, gain some back and new ones and lose a whole load of crappy Essex backwaters. Lets face it if the whole Top 15 went we'd miss the boozy trips to Bognor and Sutton the most!
