Ashford 3 - 2 Bedfont ,may have been given 3-2 Bedfont but Ashford did win, maybe the scorer of the winning goal new little about it as it seems to have hit his heel before going in

Eversley & California 1 Ash Utd 2

Great way to finish off a week off work with another win against a league challenger.

After last saturday win against league leaders CB Hounslow, Ash produced another good team performance to gain the 3points.

It started well when Ash won a penalty after just 3 mins which was converted, however within a minute Eversley were level. Both sides had chance to go in front but they wasn't taken & at ht the teams went in level.

The second half Eversley started brightly but couldn't find away through & slowly but surely Ash gained a foot hold into the game & looked dangerous themselves. Then with the game coming to an end from a corner Ash scored the what was to be the winning goal.

After a few weeks absence, the match report from our defeat to Knaphill at the weekend is here.

A very disappointing day, especially in view of the circumstances.

Rich, reading your match report, I imagine your GK was sent off for serious foul play and not VC.

Thanks for the clarification. We had some odd views on Saturday that as our keeper was the last man, he had to go, but I was under the impression that there was no such rule and that it was the preventing of a goal scoring opportunity they were looking at, which was of course unlikely as our keeper had the ball in his hands at the time.

Just out of interest, what is the difference between serious foul play and violent conduct?

In layman's terms, for instance an act of violent conduct (VC) is throwing, or attempting to throw, a punch at a player (opponent or teammate) whilst serious foul play (SFP) would be the two-footed tackle that endangers the safety of an opponent. The restart depends on whether the ball is in play or not, and there are other examples in the laws of the game to illustrate this.

The 'last man' rule is a misnomer and you're correct in that there is no rule of that kind although pundits and commentators still use the term.

DOGSO has a number of criteria for a referee to 'check off' for it being met, one of which is does the attacking player have a chance of reaching the ball before an opponent? Clearly if the ball is closer to an opponent (in this instance the GK) then the attacker has not been denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. However, the defending player can be still be cautioned or sent off for the offence if it is reckless or endangers the safety of the opponent respectively.

Hope that clarifies things a bit for you.

if someone makes a tackle and deliberately studs a 6ft 3 player in the chest whether the ball is in your hands or not, anywhere else on the pitch you get sent off. Epsom's manager apologized for what had taken place and agreed with the decision as did a couple of defenders.                    I thought the ref had a decent game which seems quite rare kept the game moving.

i agree E&E with your 1st half summory both teams found it differcult to get going both teams needed more touches then normal on a bobbly surface, but disagree with 2nd half seemed to us you were happy with the 1,0 lead and set the bus up for 40mins!! you could not contain our wide boys.  if we were more clinical with the pens and shots in 2nd half could have 4or 5.2 with your chance 1 chance.
