v Dunstable

After 3 games without a win we need to show some defensive grit and bounce back against a Dunstable team that still have hopes of making the play-offs.

In their Managers pre match blog he says that they have done their homework on us, so it'll be interesting to see how we cope with their game plan.

finished 1-0 to slough with an Ed Smith goal from the penalty spot to take him joint 10th in the all time goal scoring list.

First half was quite lively and Slough had the better of it but couldn't really get a good shot on target to challenge the Dunstable keeper. Equally we kept it tight at the back and prevented Dunstable from getting many chances. Second half was very stop start with neither team controlling the game or creating many chances. Slough got a late penalty from a great cross from Putman at the free kick and I think Hollis was the man brought down. Ed Smith put away the penalty and the game was won.

Hollis and Kalozci were both great for their teams today preventing the strikers from getting anything. Hollis was fantastic today and probably had his best performance in a Slough shirt. He made numerous tackles and interceptions and also brought the ball forward well to start counter attacks.

The win takes us up to 13th and onto 49 points. 16 points clear of relegation and 10 points from play offs.

MotM was Hollis (easily)

Thought we deserved the win in the end. Probably one of our most solid displays of the season - I don't remember them having any real dangerous looking chances. Clearly the work on the training ground paid off this week. Agree with Staines Jr on Hollis, he was immense today, a real standout performance from him. COYR!

Just as gratifying as the points was keeping a clean sheet against one of the leagues high scoring teams ( only 2 less than us ) Hollis gets better and better  lets all hope he isnt too ambitious!

Much, much better!

Good solid performance from start to finish, hardly giving play-off contenders Dunstable a look in.

Every player played their part in a good team performance but a special mention to Guy Hollis who was truly superb from start to finish. Possibly one of his finest performances in a Slough shirt.

Congrats to the Cheetah on entering the top ten all time goal scorers for the rebels!!

So much better than against kettering with all the team really seeming up for this one and getting a win that was deserved over 90 minutes . Won with that penalty in the end but created several good chances prior to that which may have gone in on another day. Dunstable are a good side which makes the win even more pleasing especially as we kept a clean sheet also. Agree that Guy was MOTM but thought Jhai Dillon was a pretty close second , giving his best display since becoming permanent.

Not prettiest of games at all. Quiet game for both keepers really.

Vital thing was for us to keep it tight at the back which has recently been a challenge. Much better defensively and Dunstable struggled to produce anything of note.

We ourselves were far from perfect and struggled to get on the same wave length at times with lots of passes going astray but on the basis of chances created we seemed the most likely to win

Decent win overall to end the recent run of home form.

Pen was nailed on. Didn't see it at the time but their video footage shows ref got it spot on. Dead giveaway I guess was the lack of protest by the offending player at the time. Ref was one of the better ones we have had recently

Good tidy win, but I keep asking myself why we can beat the good sides but often struggle against the poor ones.Is it all in the mind or what ?

Yes Hollis best player.

Definitely a mindset.

It happens at all levels of football. It happens to teams that win the leagues but less often.

Where's the logic in Bedworth doing the double over us and us doing the double over Dunstable?

Did Dunstable have a shot on target?

Taking nothing away from Slough's dominance and how clearly they were the better side on the day against Dunstable, it's somewhat mystifying when you witness a team who sit in 8th position play as awful as they did yesterday, it makes you wonder how they've achieved this feat.

Much better from our players yesterday. Obviously Guy Hollis has to be Man of the Match, as he had a stormer but I thought Jhai Dhillon and Scott Harris deserve a mention as they ran him close.

Dunstable did have two or three shots on target but none really forced Mark Scott to worry, their best chance came near the end when they were chasing an equaliser and had a header from six yards out which went straight to Scott.

They did also have a good chance early in the first half were someone was left completely unmarked in the box but the cross in was poor and went over him.

We did the stats for Adrian's write up for myfc and from memory Slough had 7 shots on target including hitting the crossbar.
