Curtis
'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results' Approximately how many times have we launched long throws in to the penalty area over the last three seasons? And how many times has it resulted in a goal?
Reading Rebel
Used properly with the right players it's a useful weapon to have. My view is that because we don't have very tall players the trajectory and placing of the throw has to be spot on, otherwise the keeper gathers/punches the ball or tall defenders head the ball away. Sloughboy
I haven't been wishing to be negative on here recently but been dying for someone to say this, I couldn't agree more! Fair enough later in the game but how about mixing it up and going short with it to drag a defender or two out? The other team just fills their box up with big players and it's a pointless exercise. Rory Delap/Stoke we are not!
Neil Baker
'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results' Approximately how many times have we launched long throws in to the penalty area over the last three seasons? And how many times has it resulted in a goal? Over the last 3 years, I cant say for definite, but would say at least 15 if not more (very rare from the first header granted) but usually from the knock downs. Just from memory I know we scored 2 in one game against Histon this season from them. Not saying that we shouldn't mix it up as we should, however you sometimes have to play the conditions, and our pitch is not in great shape, and therefore sometimes easier putting the ball in the box first time, rather than throwing it to a player to get it back, to then try and put a cross in on a poor pitch. Sure it will be very different on the 3G next season.
