'It's the worst thing I've seen on a football pitch'

So what infuriated and outraged Cowley (the Braintree manager):-

'Lions midfielder Ollie Norburn accidentally scored from long range when giving the ball back to Braintree goalkeeper Tom King after an injury to an Iron player when the visitors were leading 1-0.

Braintree expected to be allowed to walk a goal in - but the Lions had no such intentions.

Guiseley boss Mark Bower told BBC Radio Leeds: "The goalkeeper stood there with his arms in the air and allowed the ball to go in to the net.

"It put us in a really difficult position whether we should allow them to score or not, but everyone around us was saying the keeper was trying to be clever and had let it go in.

"It all kicked off and it was unpleasant and I'm sure it will attract some attention. It's a very uncomfortable position to be in."

The match at Nethermoor finished 1-1.'

Just seen the video of the incident and there's no way the keeper could have stopped the ball from going in the goal.

A Braintree player is on the floor injured and a Braintree player kicks the ball out. The Ref hasn't stopped the game so Guiseley take the throw in and score from it.

Really can't see what the fuss is all about.

The problem is, it is a "gentlemens" agreement that the ball is given back, or a drop ball is not contested.

It is not something that is in the law book.

How many times have you seen a team 1-0 up with seconds to go kick the ball out, and then the team chasing the game not giving it back. Probably happens 40% of the time.

If it happened to you, you would be fuming, but if your team gained a point by doing it, you would be sheepish, but you would take it stating that it's not in the law book.

Personally thought It was a scandalous decision by their management team, I can tell you for a fact if that ever happened to one of our teams, and one of our lads accidentally (or intentionally) scored from that situation, we would order our side to let them walk through for a goal.

Certainly if a player kicks the ball out for an injured player from the other team, give the ball back and if by chance it goes in the net let the oppo walk through for a goal but not so sure if a player kicks the ball out for one of his own players which is what happened at Guiseley.

Due to players continually falling over, feigning injury and time wasting, I'd be more than happy just to leave it to the ref to make the decision.

But it was obvious that was what they had said they were going to do, hence why nobody shut the player down or anything... it was clearly agreed between the players they would pass it back to the keeper.

Certainly if that's what was agreed between the players then the Guiseley manager should have let Braintree walk the ball into the net instead of coming out with the pathetic excuse that people were saying the Braintree keeper was playing silly buggers and could of stopped the ball from going into the net. Clearly from the video the keeper had no chance.

Braintree had the throw in and could easily have avoided this situation by throwing the ball back to their own keeper rather than giving it to the Guiseley player. Equally the keeper should have been standing in his goal and could have made an effort to stop the ball going in.

Fair play would have been to allow Braintree to score and restore their lead (And that is what I personally would have like to see), however they have no obligation to do so !!!

Braintree are chasing play offs and Guiseley are trying to keep out of relegation so this result has helped Guiseley and hampered Braintree.

For anyone who hasn't seen it
