LoucasX
Goal should stand. But the whites should have let Braintree walk the ball in to the net from the kick off. Similar incident at Harefied v Hertford in Jan 2013. Ours was less clear cut as Hertford kicked ball back to keeper. Tommy wade then tackled keeper and scored. Hertford let Harefield walk ball in from kick off under instruction from manager Marvin Samuel. Hertford players not happy as Harefield keeper had been on ball for a few seconds before Wade closed him down.......and Harefield won the game 3-2! Uncle T
This happened this season Levy vs AFC Dunstable, again from a throw in after an injury where we kicked the ball out. AFC scored and from the kick off AFC let us score.
OD's
Obviously sportsmanship does not exist higher up the ladder. Sad really for non league.

Whitley Bay
Doh! Now I get it. That would have been an inspired decision. All that was needed was a referee with 'common sense', who was (probably) not being assessed......... In my 'other' sport (cricket) they would have talked about it not being in the 'Spirit of the Game'.

thecoldend
They should of let Braintree score from kick off. They are going for the play offs so if they miss out on them by 2 pts (1-1 yesterday) it could be interesting. or where is the common sense... I know (technically) no rules were broken but would anyone have complained if the ref just said throw in again???

Neutral
People ask for consistency which suggests following a canonised set of rules (Laws of the Game) But Also ask for common sense (one rule for one, one rule for another, relying on context). Which would people prefer? Can we have both or not?
Whitley Bay
The assessor! Would the assessor have seen EXACTLY where the throwers feet were? Probably not....
tringarmy
I blame the keeper. Just because the ball wasn't rolled nicely along the floor he looked like he couldn't be bothered to move to collect the ball. He seemed to be flapping his arms to appeal before thinking maybe he should go for the ball & by then it was too late
Uncle T
Do not kick the ball out for an injury and then the problem does not happen. The player who is injured can come off himself. If it is a serious injury the referee stops the game anyway.
RendonBodgers
Saw this yesterday. It's a goal. So glad we have an official on board to clear the out come of that up. Top man Pete The G.
Whitley Bay
Would the assessor have seen EXACTLY where the throwers feet were? Probably not.... Forget the feet - I've just seen a different video of the same incident, which showed the feet to be behind the line - however the referee could have easily penalised the thrower, as it was almost 'dropped' at the Guiseley player's feet. On a different tack, clubs and players have to make their mind up about expecting the ball to be kicked out - and subsequently returned - when players are injured. They either have to do it 'properly' or not at all. The chances of the opposition kicking the ball out when a Guiseley player is injured has now reduced to less than zero!!
