littlehampton
It's not often you get the opportunity to see a FA Trophy Quarter Final tie on your own doorstep, so this afternoon travelled the 8 miles over to Bognor to see them play National League side Torquay United. The match was played in front of a large crowd of 1821, a great atmosphere throughout an excellent match, and The Rocks secured a well deserved 1-0 victory and a place in the Semi Final.Bognor are having a very good season and haven't lost since Christmas. They might possibly become a victim of their own success, as they are in real danger of fixture congestion. The Ryman League can be very proud of what The Rocks have achieved today. It will be very interesting to see how they fare when they come to Donkey Lane. Should be quite a match! seemgee
Bognors semi final is the same date that we should play them at home 12.March. Their fixture backlog is growing but its great to see a team from our league going so far with really good scalps
Enfield United
It shows what can be achieved with smaller budgets. A good blend of 14 players and good team spirit goes very far. Good luck Bognor
littlehampton
Yesterday I was expecting to make another 200 mile round journey to Donkey Lane for our match against my close neighbours Bognor Regis Town. Instead, I finished up making a very much shorter trip to see them play high fliers Grimsby Town in the FA Trophy Semi Final 1st Leg at Nyewood Lane. It was a cracking match played in front of a crowd of 2,629.. The Rocks gave a good account of themselves against a good, organised, battle-hardened Grimsby side, who are third in the National League, with a good chance of an early return to the Football League. Bognor have done the Ryman League proud in the FA Trophy this season, beating two other National League premier sides, Altrincham and Torquay United, among the seven teams defeated on the way to the semi finals. They also beat Sutton United away. The Rocks still have it all to play for after going down 1-0 to the Mariners yesterday. The odds will be stacked against them when they visit Blundell Park next weekend for the 2nd Leg. Whatever the outcome they really have performed heroics to get this far. Should be a great match when they come to Donkey Lane on Thursday 31st March for the re-arranged League fixture. I'll definitely be up to see that one!
