Here's my view. I think the standard of refereeing is poor, but so is the football at times. I also see poor refereeing performances in the premier league and champions league too. So I'm not going to be one to attack ssml refs standard of performance.

One thing I can't defend, is their reactions to the mistakes. You can't compare them to players like people have above. If when a player made a mistake, he turned round to his manager/teammates and stood arguing that he was right, it'd be weird, or if he laughed it off whilst running away backwards, people would go mad. At controversial points in the game, refs should just calmly explain that the game happens very fast, they're only human and they can get something wrong, I think more people would accept bad decisions. It's as easy as that. I see refs in this league you just cannot talk to, or who infuriate players laughing after a bad decision and some are just plain arrogant.

Another thing is the type of mistakes, some refereeing mistakes at this level are so poor and cannot be compared to a player's. I've seen some refs make it up as they go along and clearly don't know the rules when it is literally their job on the day. They need better education, you wonder what goes on behind the scenes.

Best post from you in a long time...totally agree.

You can't be that good PTG if you're still running the line after all these years ;)

Personally I found the referees really appreciated my running commentary in their ears telling them when they were wrong (and occasionally right)...

Why not make the assessor's view public or just for the clubs involved so if a ref has had a bad game ,we all know he's been told about it  and can learn from it ? and the clubs might be more understanding after hearing his side of the story.

How many people have stood next to one of the trench coat brigade with his clipboard and seen him criticise the refs performance even telling you his opinion  while you're watching the game.

Radical i know actually being honest enough to admit they might have got something wrong ! ( keeper dropping the ball on saturday and then holding his head soon as he sees the ball in the back of the net  ?? really ...

Or are they too afraid that actually letting people know they have cocked up will upset them ? ahhhh

Thats enough now, will get off the soap box..

Many times, Hare.

It all depends on the assessor and your clubs relationship with him.

Some assessors won't under any circumstances, and some will willingly.
