Just out of interest, he scored the last 'legitimate' goal I saw the Saints score

Blimey. Well, I missed that game due to my ban, so I'm wondering what the last 'legitimate' goal I saw St Albans score at Clarence Park was??...

Christ - just checked! Scott Oakes vs Grays in the FA Cup at the end of September!!

Not sure if Cambridge City are going to shell out for Simon. They are having a few problems, and this week there's a report that they may sell their ground to ease massive debts in the NLP.

However, the Southern League does seem to have a transfer fee culture, more so than the Ryman, so there is hope.

GR sounds keen...

'Also we gave Simon Martin his debut up front. I thought Simon did very well for us, he linked up very well and showed us what a good footballer he is. He was unlucky with one of his two efforts on goal. The keeper pulled off one fabulous save. Maybe he should have done better with a volley he failed to really connect with shortly after that. He linked up well with Danny Bloomfield and allowed our midfield to get us into the game. For the time he was on the pitch, I thought Simon looked a good player. He’s here on a months loan and there is a view to making it permanent depending on how he settles and how he does for us.'

If I had my way, he would start every game. Probably our most skilful player but had a poor season by his standards in 2002-3 (mainly due to injury) and hasn't really got over it. An extended run in the starting line-up would probably sort that but the powers that be seem keen to recoup some of the transfer fee we paid for him, shame that as he's City through and through.

De Souza can't be faulted for effort but time is not on his side anymore. Up front is his best position but he doesn't do too badly as a centre back.
