Miracle at Bashley

Congratulations to those Bashley supporters who have stuck with their team through what has clearly been a very difficult time. Puts some of the moaning' and groanin' we get on this site into context really!

Dave, some people would call it other peoples views and opinions. Without them this forum would be dull and would eventually become defunct.

To answer 2 points  - yes Brighton Rebel Bashley I am sure were an overspending club but I am applauding those supporters who have stuck with them. Regarding opinions I agree everyone is entitled to an opinion and my opinion when reflecting on what the remaining Bashley supporters have gone through and indeed those at St. Francis Rangers is that our collective moaning' and groan in' is perhaps at times a bit excessive.

The only thing, David, is some people live their life moaning and groaning and are happy doing it !

There's nothing anyone of us can do about that.

Also many fans misinterpret other fans opinions as criticism, when often it isn't that way at all.

I read many clubs forums and this Slough one is nowhere near as bad as people would have you believe.

Sticking by your club in difficult times is exactly what ALL Slough spectators that watch the games first-hand have done.

So I don't believe Bashley fans are any different to us.

3spirit - I agree with all you are saying except that despite past difficulties I don't think we have ever got to the point that Bashley (and Woodford) have.

Mind you in my early days following Slough in the Corinthian League I hazily recall only winning about 3 league games out of 30. There was of course the horrors of 18 points 8/9 years ago. I guess with our current age profile, and I definitely include myself in this, we are tending towards the old "moanie groanie" stage.

Weren't we once known collectively as "a misery of Slough supporters" ?

Dave, we came pretty close in the 06/07 season where we could only play a lot of kids, and went through over 90 players, and not knowing if the same player was going to be with us a couple of games later.

I remember turning up at some games with Warren, and being told by the manager that we had lost another 4 players.

That season also had the infamous Wimbledon game, where we completely out sung the home fans for the full 90 minutes, and having the Womble bow at us for being such good supporters to a team that had lost 9-0.

We also came up with the "The Ryman League is upside down" chant which changed depending on who was top.

If we can support out team through that, we can support them through anything.

So congrats to the Bashley fans who have stayed with their team
