Who would cope the best with the step up?

Recommended Posts

Hoddesdons pace at the back would see them leak far to many in at the next stage (imo).

Dunstable with a bit of fine tuning but I would prob stay safe with Berko. The squad is to much for anything this level has to offer.

Then im going to stick my neck out and say Welwyn, with a few extra additions and the style they have adopted the past few seasons would see them go toe to toe with most above. Although the big time lights may go to the players heads as seen in past seasons(LukeReid 2006, Liam Kenna 2014, Daryl Smith 2015)

Hoddesdon seemed to have enough pace at the back, although CB perhaps youre focusing on with that comment.

Dunstable i cant comment, just hearsay. Berko i thought were impressive against LC the time i saw them in the cup earlier in the season and i can see your point, but just 1 viewing so thats not helping my knowledge/commenting ability

Welwyn id agree, they play a very good style, direct, fast attacking approach, Adam has done well, really has stepped up his game with the team. Few additions, in particular a more commanding spine, goal poacher/strong/fast forward, Nononsense CM leader and a mature CB would help.

Your comments re- Reid i have no knowledge about him, Kenna i agree (bit of a drip) and found wanting too many times last season. D.Smith does a job, hes aging now but still efficient in certain games but a good servant and gives 110% no matter. The kind of player you need at this level.

Still it will be interesting, i think Berko may have too much to do now though to make it.

I agree. Strongest squad in the league, good behind the scenes set up and playing superb football consistently throughout the season.

All ingredients look good at LC. How is London Colney's pitch holding up though? Always thought their's was quite iffy but haven't made that trip in a while. We're getting to that time of year where you start to hear the same old complaints.... the walk to Holmer Green's is too far, Welwyn is a cow field, Berko is a sandpit, etc etc.

I believe that anyone strong enough to get out of this league would easily stay out of it.

Dunstable are the best equipped to push on in my eyes though. They're a very well run club and money talks at all levels.

Colney have the best team but behind the scenes they have a lot of catching up to do.

Hoddy are still quite an unknown. They're the Leicester of this league. Not many expect them to go the distance, but they're beating anyone put before them. Think they'd definitely struggle if Draper hung up his boots though. Fantastic leader with a huge wealth of experience.

Even Berko, Hadley, Hertford and Welwyn would at least survive the next step in my eyes.

Have to agree with the last post....Draper is an immense figure for Hoddesdon...never seen a CB at this level lead so well. Ive heard he's 37. Surely not?

Anyway i personally hope Hoddesdon win the league, ive seen LC a few times and their equivalent at CB (lanky chops with the old skool curtains), although decent, is slightly borderline arrogant.

I think Hoddesdon play the better football as well and against us, LC and Woods went a tad missing at times.

Still progress is progress, i still think Fisher is one of the best managers at this level and next season should be interesting, as, behind the scenes, certain teams are moving up and establishing themselves well, with a decent brand of football

AFC Dunstable pound for pound are the strongest team in the division. However, big budgets and ego inflated players don't win leagues. Hoddesdon Town are punching, they are well organised and have one or two decent players, but let's not get carried away (at the level above those players would have little impact). London Colney have been incredibly unlucky with postponed fixtures causing that lack of consistency which any team fighting for promotion needs.

Pound for Pound, taking into account some of the ridiculous money some of the clubs are throwing at players in this league. London Colney are head and shoulders the best side in the league.

It is the AFC Dunstable's, Berkhamsteads, Welwyn's, Hertford's and Hoddesdon's that dilute this league offering players at times "silly money".

Spartan South Midlands football is OK, at best! It's competitive. The football is average.

The likes of Ryan Thomson, Ian Richardson, Chris Allen and Ian Bates deserve a lot of credit. They work on little to no budgets and get the best out of a committed group of players, who play the game for the right reasons.

AFC will probably end up winning the league, but how many of those players will be at the club next season???

Do London Colney not pay players?

You keep telling yourself that Karen!! :D

I'm sure LC pay their players, but not on any scale of the other above mentioned sides.

Players are being paid on "so called reputations" based on what and compared to who?

The non-league pyramid is misleading, The top five or six sides in the Spartan Prem wouldn't look out of place in the Ryman North or Southern Div One.

Haringey Borough won the Essex Senior league last year (sums up the quality of that league!!) and are sitting 19th in the Ryman North.

Steps 4 and 5 need adjusting and the FA needs to be more flexible in movement across leagues.

Yeah ive always rated Glen Draper the guy is a machine and a born leader and he has the makings of a good manager in the future.

Ian (Basher) Bates is a top manager and he does get the best out of the players he gets and wants. Wembley FC have two very decent strikers in Wright and Femi-Gil keep them fit and Wembley FC will defently finish in the top half maybe in the top 8.
