VCD Athletic v Enfield Town

Following the recent spate of postponements, everyone will be hoping the weather is kind, the pitch playable, and the match goes ahead.

A bit about our opponents VCD, who are only in their second season in the Ryman League Premier Division.

Founded in 1916, this is 'The Vickers' Centenary season. Warmest congratulation to them on this milestone. Interestingly, they are one of only a few clubs to have originated during the Great War, when it was formed by workers employed at the Vickers armaments factory in Crayford. The club have played at the firms sports ground 'Oakwood', in Old Road, Crayford, from the outset right up to the present time. 100 years, amazing!

VCD have quite a history, and no small measure of success over the years. More recently, in the 2012-13 season, they gained promotion to Ryman Division 1 North, and the following season secured promotion to the Premier Division. Last season they struggled and finished 18th. This season, they are currently third-bottom in the table, battling hard to get out of the drop zone.

'The Vickers' have lost four of their last five matches, but commendably won 0-3 away at Needham Market on Tuesday evening. Their home form is somewhat erratic, and they have only won 2 of their 15 home fixtures, with wins against Farnborough and Wingate & Finchley.

Town will be aiming to build on their excellent performance last weekend against Met Police, and will be looking for maximum points from this fixture, to move closer to the play-offs. It will be a tough match, and we will need to be up for it, against a side fighting for survival.

Good luck everyone. Let's do the business guys!

they have just signed ex Billericay Town and Bishop Stortford centre forward (scored a hat trick against us in the FA CUP a few yrs back) Ricky Sappleton (aka The Beast) on loan from Kingstonian.

Claudio and Harold will have to be at their best in the air tomorrow.

According to Enfield Town Official " we were let down by our defence " again!!!

was this true, or was the defence let down by what was in front of them. My old

chestnut, when will the management recognise the back four also need assistance.

Week in and week out they are left wide open by a non-existent centre midfield.

He is there to support both defence and attack by being the hub between defence

and offence. This requires mobility, skill and the ability to make a pass. It

also doesn't help if the attackers continually fail to take their chances.

If BQ doesn't address this problem then the back four, who ever they are, will

always be under pressure.

I still believe that he has already several players who could fill this role but

for some reason he is unwilling to take the gamble, why????

Perhaps someone could enlighten me.

A very disappointing result for everyone. Can't comment on our performance today, but the game is all about defending well and scoring goals. Lowly VCD, who are fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table, have had a great week, putting three goals past Needham Market on Tuesday, and another three past us today. Six goals, six points!

Where did it all go so badly wrong for us today? Why, after we got an equaliser, couldn't we hold on to at least share the points? Two goals today by Harold Joseph, but a blank afternoon for our forwards. Did we deserve something from this match, or was it a fair result?

Please share your own thoughts on this match - the good, the bad, and the ugly! Cheers!

LH  you ask where it went wrong today. This suggest it is a one off occurrence. I have suggested it has happened for weeks especially in the last 30 minutes. Thankfully, we have pulled the cat out of the bag

on several occasions. But this, strangely has been at the hands of a defender. They cannot keep bailing out our forwards!!!. 2 Goals to the centre half today.
