v Hitchin

Fantastic performance 1-11. Great goal by putts but for me rummy was man of the match for an all action midfield performance where I don't remember him putting a foot wrong. After nearly a month off we looked sharp, fit and the back 5 were immense. So impressed and good to see us get the win despite Hitchins constant whinging. Great to have football back and great to get a victory like that!!!

Good 3 points with a positive performance from Slough considering it has been nearly a month since our last game.

All players put in a good shift and got the result from an awkward Hitchin team who tried their best to intimidate through kicks and pushes, and the big gob of Callum Donnelly their so called captain and leader who embarrassingly dived and fell at the slightest chance and then constantly moaned at the ref - what a quality sportsman he is!

Thought that Lee barney fitted in well and looked very promising.

Really good performance from everyone today against a good Hitchin side who started the day in 5th.

Not a single player looked off the pace today an everyone put in a good shift on a heavy pitch. Mark Scott made some great saves today to keep his first clean sheet of 2016 with Hollis and Hicks doing well to keep the Hitchin striker quiet. Dhillon and Fraser both did really well against McNamara (ginger) who looked to me like Hitchins biggest threat. Nathan Webb and Leigh Rumbold were excellent in midfield preventing the opposition going through the middle and breaking up most of the play, then starting counter attacks for Slough as well. Putman did really well tracking back on several occasions and got forward himself well also to put in a few dangerous crosses. Warren Harris pushed forward really well ad prevented their left back from pushing forward. Charlie Mpi was excellent in the air winning almost all his headers and did really well to hold up the ball and close down the opposition. Lee Barney didn't get many chances in front of goal to show what he can do but he was tireless today chasing down the ball and creating chances.

Overall my MotM would be Leigh Rumbold for a fine display in midfield, Webb ran him close.

As a Hitchin fan I would be embarrassed by most of their players today as it is clear that they have a good team with talent but they let themselves down massively with their attitude and feigning of injuries.

Also thought the ref was good today, in my opinion he made the right decisions throughout the game and can't think of many decisions he got wrong. He also showed some good common sense to keep the game going when some of the floodlights went out.

Deserved win ....and in the behaviour stakes we won by a distance.....Hitchin are a decent side who spoil their game by stupid tactics of falling over too often and moaning even more often. Great strike for our goal, just as Hitchin were starting to look threatening,

Thought we tired a bit as the end drew near , lack of matches maybe telling at that stage.

MOTM for me was Guy Hollis...............not a foot wrong all game.

Thoroughly deserved 3 points and an excellent team performance against a good Hitchin team.

We looked determined and up for it from the off and really should of been a couple of goals to the good at half time.

Second half was more even but again restricted Hitchin to one or two chances whilst we should of tucked a couple more away.

Agree that the Hitchin players really should concentrate on their football rather than the histrionics and whinging that went on.

I have to say it is really difficult to pick a MOTM as every one played their part. I thought first half Jhai Dhillon had the ginger one in his pocket to the point where in the second half he switched over to the right to try and get some joy but found Seany equally as difficult to get past.

I thought Lee Barney had a good debut, looked very lively, did some very good link up play and was very unlucky not to score. The defence were solid all game and the second half in particular I thought Rummy was outstanding.

Wazza and Charlie were their normal selves, chasing lost causes and never giving the opposition any peace.

Having said all that I cannot disagree with Putts as MOTM as he was a threat all game with his direct running and dangerous crosses and a truly superb strike to win the game.

Well done to everyone for an excellent performance and the three points.

That was a good win against a hitchin side pushing for promotion. I didn't like the way they handled themselves as a team with the constant moaning and shouting especially towards the referee, who had a good game himself. I thought our back line looked solid today, reducing Hitchin to only probably 2 clear cut chances.

Onwards and upwards from here.

Come on you rebels!

An excellent win MOM for me Mark Scott and a clean sheet The other games did us no harm Both teams immediately above us failed to win and only Stratford won and still have a number of games in hand The other chasing group have mostly wasted their games in hand as Neil predicted they would recently and our position begins to look like a true position Not sorry to see the wretched St Neots lose yet again Now let us get some silverware

Agree with everything that has been said so far on this thread.

Slough as a team were superb today and deserved the win, in what was a hard fought victory.

A great team effort.

Rummy for me Man of the Match,as well as Captain Fantastic.

Guy Hollis,Lewis Putman and Mark Scott top notch as well but every Slough player deserves a lot of credit for their display today.

For sheer effort its got to be one of our best performances of the season, although I did think we were hanging on towards the end, as our team tired and had run themselves into the ground.

Well done Bakes and Unders for getting the players up for it.

As for Hitchin, they have one or two very good players and seem a well organised team, which is credit to their manager, Mark Burke but I suggest he looks for a new skipper as their number 8 [C.Donnelly] was shameful and a play actor, who wanted to get our players sent off. Exactly what you don't want from a captain !

The game turned out to be a lively feisty affair but I'm glad I support Slough, as some of Hitchin's unsporting behaviour can only be termed as embarrassing and not what any fair minded fans would want to watch.

Ending on a positive Slough note, what about that class lob over the Hitchin defender by Jhai Dhillon?  Great play. He and Lewis look to be forming a good understanding on the left, which can only be a good thing.

Lewis was even impressive in his shutting down and tackling today, which hasn't been a strong point of his, and what with his wonder goal, all being witnessed by his Nan today, we can only admire his sterling work under such pressure ! ha ha ha !
