FF News
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law wants his players to keep their feet on the ground as they head into two tough home league games over the next week. The Reds boss saw his side reach the semi-finals of the Derbyshire Senior Cup for the first time since the 2012/13 campaign on Tuesday night with a comprehensive 6-0 home win over Long Eaton United. Alfreton were too strong for their Midland Football League Premier Division visitors with a Sam Jones hat-trick leading the way and taking his tally from midfield to eleven goals already this season. Jordan Robertson added one and a late Jamie Jackson brace wrapped up a resounding win. However, with ninth-placed Chorley visiting the Impact Arena this Saturday and title-chasing Nuneaton Town in Derbyshire the week after, Law knows his side face a tough task to keep their six-game unbeaten run in all competitions going. “I am pleased with the result against Long Eaton. It is always difficult to raise your game against lower league opposition so credit where it’s due to our lads” said Law “We have a couple of very tough league games coming up now though and I want us to keep firmly focused on keeping our four-game unbeaten run in the league going and trying to carry on our progress up the league table. “That will only happen if we maintain the hard work and desire we have put in over the last few weeks though” ended Law.
