FF News Posted January 18, 2016 Share Posted January 18, 2016 The North West Counties Football League have announced that League Life member Mike Darby passed away on Sunday morning after a short illness. Mike served as a member of the League's Management Committee for many years and held various positions, including Referee's Appointment Officer on the League's formation and his last being that of League Secretary, before stepping down to spend much of his retirement abroad. Paul Lawler, Chairman of the North West Counties Football League, said: "Mike was a long-serving member of the League's Management commitee with his involvement extended back into the Cheshire League days where he was a referee. "His contribution to the NWCFL was significant and he was a trusted friend to many players, managers and club officials over the years. "On behalf of the League, I would like to pass on our condolences to Mike's wife, Joyce, daughter Helen and the rest of his family at this difficult time."
