I think he was also due to be knighted on the same day as Mr Wilkinson received his MBE, and requested that the palace move his date as he didn't want to be overshadowed by our egg chasing hero. I thought knighthoods were an honour bestowed on you, not something to receive when it best suits you.

A few average films, but otherwise musically he's not in the same class as Elton and Macca.

 

His award probably recognises the income he has earned for Britain PLC.

Certainly not on the same par as Macca or the fat poof. They are amongst the finest (in Macca's case, probably the finest!) song-writers of the 20th century.

 

Jagger isn't even a great singer, although he's a good front-man and performer. Not enough to get knighted in my book.

 

These honours are handed out far too freely for my liking. Some of these tossers who have got MBE's or OBE's - why??

 

The Stones have been dull and irrelevant since Brian Jones died, really.

Suppose he could have been knighted for his services to banging loads of birds, but using that criteria, I guess you'd have to knight Stringfellow, Wyman and Thornsy too.

 

HM - not at all. There is no "better of the two", and no-one is better than either of them. They are both untouchable. And solo, Macca probably edges it. Too many people are quick to bang on about the Frog Song, but he's done some fking quality stuff over the last 20 years.

Couldn't agree more. Saw Macca in Liverpool's King's Dock in the summer and he was superb. He didn't play the Frog Song though.

Saw him in 1990 at Wembley where he was absolutely superb, and again at Earls Court this year, when he was arguably even better.
