FF News
It’s over a month since Basford United secured a 1-1 home draw with runaway leaders Stafford Rangers and could have taken all three points, after a superb team performance. United now face their first league game at Greenwich Avenue since that fixture, having won their last two Evo-Stik League Division One South matches on the road, against Market Drayton Town and second-placed Coalville Town. Fellow play-off challengers Chasetown are the visitors to Greenwich Avenue this Saturday (3pm kick-off) and will provide Martin Carruthers’ side with more strong opposition in what will be Basford’s last home game before Christmas. Speaking to BUFC Radio after Tuesday night’s 2-1 Notts Senior Cup win over Wollaton FC, which saw United go three games unbeaten, newly-installed first team coach Mark Clifford was clear about what was required from the players this weekend, saying “We’ve done really well on the road the last few weeks but in any competition you have to get your home form up and that’s what we’re aiming to do. We’re on an unbeaten run and our aim is to continue that, whether that be against Chasetown or anyone else we’re going to come up against in the next few weeks.” Source: Basford United FC Source
