Hornchurch fared little better at the other end, though George Purcell hit a shot wide after running on to a header from Billy Coyne. Purcell again missed the target when put through by Tobi Joseph, whilst Niklas Freund saved well when a Joey May corner towards the far post found the head of Paul Goodacre saw his header saved by Niklas Freund. Harlow had one shooting opportunity as the match approached half time, and it came from ex-Urchin, Junior Dadson, but the ball was deflected away for a corner. Two minutes before the interval, Freund dived to save Purcell’s hard free kick, and although Alex Bentley followed up quickly, his shot was wide of the post. For much of the second half Hornchurch pumped high balls upfield, and these were promptly headed back by the visiting defence, and although Tobi Joseph headed wide from a long Billy Coyne throw, it was Harlow who came closest to scoring when only a good tackle by Junior Luke denied Alex Read. Purcell made a good run from the left wing, but his shot was from too narrow an angle, and Hornchurch began to press forward against a Harlow team that now concentrated on defence. Junior Luke made a weaving run through the defence but put his shot high and over the bar. Jed Chouman replaced Joey May, and with fifteen minutes left Leon McKenzie came on for Calvin Poku, and this led to almost continuous pressure on the Harlow goal, with McKenzie going close, and Bentley putting a shot wide from a Purcell corner. The final chance fell to McKenzie, but his header, from a Coyne throw, drifted the wrong side of the post and Hornchurch had to settle for just the one point.
