Stratford - home 21st November

Hopefully we can get back to winning ways..... Stratford with only one win from their six away league matches this season, and us with six wins from our nine home league matches.

I haven't seen a squad fitness/availability update.... presumably no news is good news.

First half really poor getting caught too easily and giving away unnecessary free kicks in  dangerous places,,,,,,,,,,,this after having scored first. One or two them had nightmare performances and substitutions could easily have been made inside half an hour.

Maybe a little better second half--smashing goal from Putts--but still second best to a team who are not one of the greatest teams we have played this season.

The October team of the month ? Now we ask ourselves  if that was solely because of the Oxford loanees.

MOTM for Slough...........Dan Hicks quite easily !

Very disappointing. We have one of the best goalkeepers in the league and yet, after the 4 goals we leaked today, there are only 2 teams in the division who have conceded more goals We must come out of denial and properly address this matter I agree that Stratford deserved the win today but they were workmanlike and efficient but not one of divisions best teams imo.

Graham, agree with most of what you've said here but can't see how you thought Dan Hicks was man of the match !

I like seeing a centre half playing the ball out with his feet now and again but Dan Hicks doesn't vary it enough and is going to get caught out before long, as he tries it too often.

Honest appraisal from Unders on the Slough website about yesterdays poor performance. Have to agree that the defence was largely to blame and our central midfield pairing of Searsy and Rummy struggled to get an understanding together.

From a Slough perspective too many Slough players had off days. To be honest, finding a man of the match in a Slough shirt is no easy feat. I would award it to Lewis Putman, if anyone, as he kept trying when others didn't and was rewarded with a well taken goal from open play.

Not getting 3 points yesterday is a worry when you look at the teams we have to play in December !

We need to have everyone giving it a go on Tuesday against Dunstable.

I would make three to four changes for that game, to the team that started against Stratford.

What do others think?

I agree very poor display! Also I agree we have a good keeper but he makes an awful lot of mistakes that have cost us goals as well, would like him to eradicate them.

Hope can pick up a result again soon.

I wouldn't agree that Mark Scott 'makes an awful lot of mistakes'.

Yes Scotty makes mistakes but so does every other keeper from the premiership downwards which very often leads to goals.

The other side of the coin is how many times has he saved certain goals?

Reading Rebel I think you've got that spot on The number a certain goals he has prevented far outweighs his stupid errors imo I said he was one of the best in our league and Im sure that correct You have to remember that a truly excellent keeper in all ways simply wouldnt be playing down at our level.

When Dan Hicks does beat a couple of players and comes out of defence with the ball it does look good but as you say if you do it too often you will get caught and pay the penalty.

Changes will be made to freshen things up. There's a good case to bring in Justin Clayton, Nathan Webb, Ryan Hope, Ed Smith and Strutton.

The most notable thing about yesterday's game was how much pace Stratford had and how much quicker they were in every department.

Stratford attacked with pace with most of their goals being scored because a chasm opened up in midfield and players were allowed to run half the length of the pitch without a challenge in sight.

Yes, they took their goals very well and we should have defended a lot better but for me some of the damage was done before reaching our area.

Dan Hicks because his clearances with his head saved situations time and again and the runs out of defence were strong and should have led to more chances for us...............it was his strong second half that swayed me that way though I agree Putts played well especially first half.

Ed may need games but I still feel that he and Charlie Mpi are our best front two as they are different enough to each other to provide threats to defences

Disappointing to watch yesterday given October performances. I know everyone sees every game differently but for me if you win the midfield you will create and score goals , plus as a team, fewer go in against you. Too often yesterday they travelled through our mid field area with ease to threaten our goal.

If I recall correctly we did not have one shot on their goal in the first half (goal apart) or that many in the 2nd.

I know we don't have the Oxford boys here anymore but if the midfield could get hold of the game as we did then we could have had a different result yesterday. Players must be first to the ball followed by good distribution. Simple but effective as when we have done it the whole team grows in confidence.

I know people have been comparing the way in which we played to the Marlow match but for me that is not a true comparison as they are not at the same level we are up against week in, week out (no offence to Marlow of course).
