It appears to me as an innocent bystander looking at the player departures from CIFC, that the backbone of the side has departed to pastures new. Do you all think too many top players have left or, as I would suspect does JK have a handfull of aces up his sleeve?

tilson , as jeff king says himself, has been canveys best signing ever.. he was still superb at the start of this season, but after his injury (about a third of the way thru the season) the team still performed, miller was excellent in his place..when he came back i think he struggled a bit and i would guess this was always going to be his last season as canveys playmaker.

stimmo also spent some time out with injury and susension but i think will be missed more as he filled the more aggressive ball winning role and has at least 2 seasons left at this level if he stays fit and paces himself over a season, he is an excellent signing for grays at their current stage of development.. smith (buzz) has in my opinion, just had his best season for canvey and was superb in the big games (remember northampton) and will be missed the most , out midfield is strong but at the back it leaves wardy and chenners as only 2 main men......i think we need at least one more quality defender,, i think the midfield is sound if duffers stays with j.k. and miller can find his form of early/mid last season, with another year of experience under his belt i can see him taking tilsons place....i would like to see a real ball winning midfielder in the team, wether one has to be signed or if one of the current midfielders can fill the role remains to be seen, but currrently they seem to be to be mainly creative attacking players... early days for who jeff has up his sleeve, lots of rumours but my main concern (if no one else leaves) is about the strength in depth defensivly

I believe our Midfield will be just as good as last seasons. We may have lost our two veterans but we have Adam Miller who gains experience with every game as Stimmo's replacement and Danny Bolt who can play anywhere in the middle will take over the role of Tilly. Plus Steve Parmenter.

 

On the wings we can select a combo of either: JK, Duffers, Spencer Knight and not forgetting little Ian Thompson.

 

I feel Ben Chenery will take over the Captian's armband and will partner Wardy at the back. Buzz's departure was a great loss, but if the rumours of Crow are true he will join the back-line with Benno & Bodley as cover.

 

Up front... Well we must hold on to Boylan! He will partner Gregory if he stays with, Vaughan fighting for his pace in the side, and Cobby for cover.

Well Canv and Matt have just about answered your Q's to a point which is generally known so far. We here at Canvey normally have to wait, suck it and see who is included in the friendlies before we know the new faces. Even at that stage we are never really certain who is going to be in our early season squad.

Needless to say that JK is a shrewd guy and will come up with the goods one way or tother.

Have we signed Jason Dozzel and Jones from Bristol. Because if we have signed Jones that will replace Wayno surely.
