Brightlingsea a nice town, a few decent pubs and a nice local game for me :-)

Decent pubs!!!

The only pub I could find serving real ale when cruising the area (in my boat) around 6 years ago was the Railway Tavern to the north west of the town where the railway used to terminate.

Cask Marque shows two in the town.

Yachtsmans Arms - Probably in the new residential development by the harbour and Cherry Tree in Church Road. I did not go there 6 years ago.

Camra show 7 near the town centre including Railway Tavern which I truly recommend unless it has changed. As I say others did not have real ale 6 years ago but did not go to Rosebud.

Recommend the chippie "Winkies" in New Street. Probably the best chip shop in Essex also does a nice sit down meal.

The best chip shop in Brightlingsea is Jonny Mac's (formally known as Scooby Snacks until 2012 when Warner Bros threatened legal action) ;) ..They were in the final selection of' Britain's best chip-shop' for quite a few years ..As you head to the seafront (past the school) on Church Road. Its on the right just before Well Street ,just before the Towncentre/Waterfront sign.
