Reading Rebel
It seems a real waste getting Paul Stonehouse match fit only for him to be recalled by Oxford City who then proceed to put him on the bench. Two games back and he's been a second half sub and today an unused sub. He's too good a player to be sitting on the bench. If he's only there to make up the numbers can we please have him back! Irishadrian
First we need to know if he would be interested in playing for us regularly then we need to know what Oxford City want for his contract and of course how close our managers are to securing a player just as good as Paul. I think it was common knowledge that Stoney loved playing for us and would be more than happy to stay with us. Although our managers have someone in mind to fill the left back position and the 'cryptic clues' given by Unders were a bit strange to say the least, the chances of getting someone as good as Paul Stonehouse are slim to zero. Well, it could be down to how much Paul Stonehouse gets paid and what we can afford here at Slough? While, its an understatement to say that the Slough team need a left back, getting such a good one in, as Paul, may be a tall order this season but next season may be a different proposition especially if we have the leverage of our own ground/modern facilities etc. If that was to be the case, and with Slough not going for the title this season, perhaps it would be wiser to look for a ' stop-gap' player in the left back position ie what Bakes and Unders are doing with Nathan Webb currently, while also keeping an eye out for any potential fits ! ha ha ! Whilst I see your point 3spirit, we have to be careful as this division is so tight, a few defeats on the bounce and any team could get dragged into a relegation scrap. Whatever player we get in IMO will have to be a decent left back.

Agree Reading Rebel, that whilst Slough have put together a great string of positive results, ending with yesterdays loss, we are still not ' out of the woods' just yet. Too many teams have games in hand on us and the points differential between 5th place and 21st place is so tight, that it's probably going to be February before we get a clearer picture of how we are really doing. That said, the team has come on leaps and bounds to what started the season and hopefully we've turned the corner in regards to the way we play and how we function as a team. Looks like the possible touted left back from Tooting has slipped through the net, which is a pity as he is a good player but finding another suitable candidate is going to be no easy task, as the best ones are always in demand. On the left back that's slipped through net, if a player is not totally happy or committed with his decision maybe because of the travelling involved, then it's probably for the best that he's gone elsewhere where the travelling is a lot less. Listening to Bakes recap on the KL game it's now a lot clearer on what's happening behind the scenes with the left back situation. It looks like we'll just have to wait a week or so to see if anything comes from any negotiations that may happen.
Irishadrian
Its pleasing to hear Neil in the post Kings Lynn interview confirm that he and Jon would like Paul back in a Slough shirt. OK he has a contractual obligation to Oxford City but usually contractual obligations have a price. If we achieve the likely victory against Frome in the Trophy then we have gained six grand with the possibility of much more if we progress If it really comes down to money we may be in a position to deal. Oxford City have three players suspended for their match next Saturday, Arzamendi and King (DF) and Fleet (MF). http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/suspensions Which might be why they won't even consider any loan deal with Paul until after next Saturday. Curtis
Paul Stonehouse was an unused sub again tonight despite what appears to have been a dreadful home defeat for Oxford City 3-1 to lowly Havant.

Stoney has got to get past their Spanish left back and captain and unless he has a few mares or gets injured I reckon he will remain on the bench.
