fatboyatmfc
Ashford u18 team Booked a place in the next round or the LF cup by way of beating Bedfont Sports by three goals to one last night. The Ashford boys , who are mostly first years at this level , went a goal down early on but then dominated large periods of the game and ran out comfortable winners against a strong Sports. The game was well refereed and was played in a good spirit seeing as it was a local derby. There wasn't any real contentious moments and Ashford were deserved winners. Which makes me wonder why at the final whistle most of the Bedfont team refused to shake hands and left the ground without bothering with the hot food laid on in the bar. It's never nice to lose at any level, but it's part of football and it is the managers/coaches responsibilities to make sure that their lads learn what is expected in the game, on and off the field. I hope that when our Boys lose they take it on the chin, shake the hands of the victors and stand tall in the clubhouse after the game. It helps their development when they enter men's football to have a healthy respect for their opponents and the volunteers behind the scenes. Talking of volunteers! We are struggling at u18 level to manage the match day (nights) requirements The u18 Manager is dealing with so many jobs before the games he isn't able to give his own job his full attention. We need an U18 match day secretary. Who's job is to look after the referees before the game, make sure the team sheets are in on time and hand them their monies at the end. We also need a Tea Bar operative to make and sell hot drinks from the stadium tea bar from 7.30 to 8 .45 (no hot food is served) You can still watch the game from the tea bar! Anyone interested in helping please speak to Nick Bailey.
