Cambridge City - home 24th October

It was a really good game of football with both teams looking to press and give the opposition no time on the ball. Neither team wanted to go home without the 3 points which lead to some great attacking play and plenty of chances.

Not quite sure how it ended 0-0 at half time with both teams having shots blocked off the line and both keepers making some great saves. Having said that, the first half was very evenly matched. Second half however Slough were the better team and created most of the chances. There will be a lot of questions from the Cambridge team as to how rummy got such a free header on the edge of the six yard box for the first goal but from then on the slough team grew in confidence and pushed on. More questions will be asked of the Cambridge defence about sloughs third goal as none of the Cambridge defenders tracked claytons run as he had to quickly change from going for a header to a volley to score. The slough defence will also be kicking themselves about letting in the last minute goal.

In terms of the loan players who will leave after Tuesday night; Scott Harris will be the obvious immediate replacement for Strutton, Rummy seems to be the first choice replacement for Benjamin though we do also have Hope. The problem we will have is finding someone to replace Stonehouse as atm we have no one who can fill in.

MotM for me was Adrian Sears, he put in some fantastic slide tackles and I hope the junior team was watching as his technique was perfect. Not sure about his yellow as from the commentary box we were the wrong side to see if it was a foul. Im sure the managers can say if it was or not.

I thought Adrian Sears and the Cambridge goalkeeper were the best players in the first half !

Very entertaining game to watch, with both sides getting their fair share of opportunities to score. For once, we were the most clinical side to take advantage.

I think Dan Hicks and Justin Clayton deserve special praise, too, as they both played well together in the heart of the defence, for what is their only second game together [Guy had done well, as usual, until his injury].

Dan Hicks is far better than I thought he would be, and I thought in the second half he was our best player.

Justin Clayton is going to be asset for Slough. His size, presence and power is something we've missed for a good while and is good to have in both boxes.

A good all round team performance today. Men of the match today for me, shared between Searsy and Dan Hicks.

The teams work ethic, harrassing and closing down even after the third goal went in was terrific.

Charlie Mpi.s all round play and work rate has really surprised me since he rejoined us after being at other top clubs he is now a top player.
