Loan players returning

I am going to do a hotspur here and say two classy full backs from the Tommy Lawrence era and ex England Amatuer International players.

Ray Eaton and Tim turl.

Tim played as a striker and turned into a class defender.

Never forget him scoring two goals in the first twenty minutes in the second leg of FA Trophy semi Final against Dagenham as a defender at wexham park.

The Daggers led 2 nil from the first leg after his 2nd they went and scored 4 winning over two legs 6-2.

I will also add Micky Bell from the Bob gibbs era.

Were they left backs RD?

On second thoughts 3spirit you're probably right.

Charlie has yet to get back to full fitness following a bad injury.

My comment was purely based on what I have seen since he's been with us.

One thing that has counted, in a bizarre way with Charlie Strutton being unfit, is that he hasn't had to do as much running as the rest of the team. I'm not saying he doesn't close defenders down because he does but obviously he's not going to be able to do as much as Scott Harris or Charlie Mpi.

To me this has enabled him to be in the right place at the right time to attack and get a shot off.

While I admire the work rate/high tempo/defending as a team principle, that Bakes and Unders are trying to instil, we have to be wary of our forwards getting isolated by tracking back into their own half and thus having no one in an advanced position, when we break forward. This happened in the second half against Cambridge.

Should Charlie Mpi be tracking back past the halfway line, when he is our fastest attacker?

I see Charlie Strutton's loan has been extended by a further month (to the end of November)..... with 5 goals in 8 matches (and 3 goals in his last two when he appears to have regained match fitness), with seven matches in November this looks like it could be fantastic.

Is it a fixed loan extension though? Or could he be recalled earlier?

And will he be available for the FA Trophy?

It seems Strutton is getting into full fitness and form now and could be really handy to have him for another month. Sounds like he's enjoying his time with us plus he lives local (bit of a trek to Braintree 2/3 times a week!), can't see us signing him though as he'd no doubt be too expensive plus we have Eddie coming back.

Announced on the Oxford City forum that both Paul Stonehouse and Declan Benjamin have returned to Oxford City from their loans to Slough Town.

I don't know if it's anything to do with the loan period ending on the 6th of November but it does seem odd that both players have not been named in the Oxford City squad for tomorrow.
