Billericay 3 Wivenhoe 4

Billericay fielded a young and predominantly second string xi against Wivenhoe last night. Only Henty, Jones, Hunter, Dormer and Black remained from the side that put on such a good show against Grays.

the match was high on goals but not so high on all round quality with the abiding memory being another abject performance from the officials who "abandoned" the game after 35 minutes due to fog only to restart again 10 minutes later in worse visibility.

its pointless to have a pop at the youngsters but I was surprised some of them failed to make more impression with justin watching and to me it seemed that wivenhoe wanted the win a bit more than us. Anyway its gone now.

looking ahead to Saturday the new boys should be back altho hockton and andy jones will still be out and steve jones must be doubtful after picking up what looked like a calf strain.. (Dr JL dont u know).

Not sure what was wrong with Redders and it looks like JJ has probably kicked his last ball for us so the impressive Weaver looks likely to continue between the sticks.

Not sure I agree that they wanted it more - by the end of the game we had 5 debutants on the pitch and I reckon Wivenhoe's greater experience came through.

A few positives though:

Tolan, Black and Dormer all scored their first goals for Billericay which can only boost confidence. There could be as many as 7 or 8 changes for Aylesbury so if they were having us watched they won't have learnt a thing! Stevie Jones had another good game - be a bit of a blow if he's not fit for Saturday, and it looked like a bad knock.

Anyway for those of you who weren't there the team was

Foster

Henty Carr Polston Taylor

S.Jones Dormer Hunter Aziz

Black Tolan

Subs

Kennet for Henty

Brown for Polston

Kamara for Jones

Simon, I agree, from a management point of view we were very disappointed not to win this game, considering we were in the lead three times. However, from a club point of view there were some plus points, during the second half we were playing with two seventeen year olds in Andre Foster and Craig Kennet who handled the game very well.

Considering the young and inexperienced side that was put out I dont they played to badly felt Jordan Tolan took is goal very well and looks a good prospect for the future. Steve Jones had one of the best games ive seen him play for the club yet I also felt Aziz had a good. How much is it to get in as a junior to reserve game
