Reading Rebel
Sorry to see Adam Martin leave us. I would like to thank him for all his efforts in a Rebels shirt and wish him all the best for the future.
Radders
Saw this coming but not too happy about it at all. Wouldn't say he's been at his best this season but on his day is a huge player for us and didn't want this news to come. Thanks for everything Adam, I know some fans seem to have short memories regarding you, but I for one am extremely disappointed to see you go!!! Bernie Gogan
Echo that from Radders. I'd guess that budgetry matters play a part here.
Don Juan DeMarcus
Utter bullshit. We were lucky to have a player of his calibre. Superb player and one who could easily have shored up our defence frailities at CB. I know a number of fans will consider it a wise decision this one doesn't. Not surprised but not pleased. GlenSTFC
Although Adam undoubtedly had quality, especially this season it wasn't evident enough personally and with the options we have in his position I expected this. Plus I'd expect him to be one of the higher earners too.
staines_rebel_Jr
Really disappointed to see Adam Martin be let go as he is a very good player. He has the ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck and control it, unfortunately we haven't seen that this season but that is part down to the teams overall bad form up until recently and never being trusted and being played in CM regularly. With Benjamin and Rummy only being here short term and with Sears previous injury problems we have to be careful we don't run out of midfielders all of a sudden
Curtis
I'm very disappointed to see him leaving, thought he was a very good player and wouldn't be surprised to see him moving to a club at a higher level. Thanks Adam, I wish you all the very best.
Neil Baker
Really disappointed to see Adam Martin be let go as he is a very good player. He has the ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck and control it, unfortunately we haven't seen that this season but that is part down to the teams overall bad form up until recently and never being trusted and being played in CM regularly. With Benjamin and Rummy only being here short term and with Sears previous injury problems we have to be careful we don't run out of midfielders all of a sudden In respect to the comment of not being trusted to play central midfield regularly, then he has played 32 games under us in 10 months, and all of which have been played in central midfield with the exception of last night and earlier in the season where he played centre half at Biggleswade. There is no disputing Adam is a good player (he was one we were desperate to keep when we first took over the club), however like we have said before in the past, this is not the only factor we take into consideration when it comes to players and if they are right for the team/squad. I spoke to Adam tonight, and he was quite understanding of our decision, although the reasons are to be kept between ourselves as managers and Adam, however we wish him the best for his future, and am sure we will probably cross paths again at some point this season. In the meantime as managers and as a team we move on.
3spirit
To progress, the midfield needed shaking up and our managers have done that. We all have different opinions on players. To me releasing Adam Martin is the right call. Results have improved because we changed the personnel in midfield [as well as tweaking a couple of other areas] so I can't see what the surprise is seeing Adam depart. Reading Rebel
We'll never know the real reason but perhaps it was simply that Adam just wanted to play football and was not happy being on the bench and biding his time.
Stuntman Mark
I'm backing the managers on this. Adam has been a superb player for Slough over several spells at the club but for whatever reason, hasn't impressed this season and results have improved since he was dropped. I would guess he's one of the higher earners so it makes sense, to me at least. To be honest, I don't think he's best suited to the way we like to try and play now - i.e. high line, high pressure football. Wish him well though, really nice lad and you wouldn't rule out him returning again in the future given his history with the club. Barring a few additions and adjustments when loans finish,I quite like what the gaffers have done and where the squad is at now and would hope for a period of relative stability now. COYR! Graham Cox
Actually thought he played well on Tuesday, maybe the best he has been this season, where overall his own high standards have dipped. In the last season or so he has been a good player for us and when he came back from other ventures, I seem to recall it was to universal welcoming from fans. So good luck to him , and thanks for previous endeavours
Sloughboy
I don't think this is a bad move, certainly not like the Chris Henry release which took a long time to get over really as a team. The revolving door is my concern at the moment, especially with now 4 short term players who will need replacing too in the not too distant future! Good luck to Adam though. Sloughboy
Yes rummy appears to be short term. It's a concern that's all. Enjoying the results but concerned about revolving door again, that's all.
HEAVY TRUCKER
i have been concerned with adams performances this season, and i think that even he would admit that he hasn't achieved his high standards this season, though not all his fault results have improved when he has been on the bench. it's as though his heart really hasn't been in it for what ever reason,i wish him all the best for whatever he goes on to do (hope he doesn't come back to haunt us like so many have) and thank him for all his efforts for slough
