New ground

Glen's right.

Nobody, except the people in charge knew how much rent we payed at SYCOB although the rumour mill seemed to indicate that it was between £300 and £400 per game.

Unless you're personally involved in the playing budget I'm not sure what benefit it would be to the ordinary supporter to know what rent we will be paying at Arbour Park except to satisfy our curiosity.

Due to the deadline day getting ever closer I think we can pretty much guarantee by now that all of the details like rent, catering, bar etc have been discussed and agreed.

I think what most supporters want to know including myself is Have our managers finally been told what their budget for the new season is? Obviously the amount is sensitive but if they still dont know then they cant approach some on their wish list

Considering they have already said they are looking to start with a 20 man squad you would guess they already know the budget.

More than that. Don't forget the clubs other sides would want to use the facilities - youth, academy etc.

the same principal would apply to any of the STFC teams playing there.

Also the other teams would not affect the first team budget. Plus they would already be paying rent to use the pitches they have been using this season so not much change for them anyway.

It's not quite the same as me and my mates hiring it for a few hours kick about and Slough Town calling it their home ground? The fact it's a brand new ground with far superior facilities we're not going to be charged from the rate card per hour! Yes I'm too certain the budget has been agreed and player recruitment is well underway and no doubt some have confirmed already but can't be announced for obvious reasons. I wonder if it'll just be the 2 players departing with the majority being invited to pre-season to earn a squad place. Obviously some players will be staying i'm sure we can guess them.

Why should it be any different as we can't call it our home ground?

Irish, I'm pretty certain our managers have already recruited players, either on contract or by commitment. This could not be done without having a budget so there's your answer.

We plan to make an announcement on Friday to provide everyone with an update as to where we are with new signings, etc.

We hope to be able to name anywhere between 2 and 5 new players depending on how things go over the next few days but as you will all appreciate we will only do so when we are 100% sure of their commitment.

I'm not saying WE can't call it our "home ground" but officially it is not ours.

SRJ, I think we are all aware of the situation of who will actually own Arbour Park.

A lot of other teams don't own their own ground because, like us, they don't have several million pounds to pay for one.

I'm not sure why it keeps being brought up because Arbour Park will be our home ground regardless of who owns it.

Not necessarily but maybe in some cases. Sorry that's vague!

In our opinion if you've met a player several times and there is trust both ways and you shake hands on a deal whereby the player says he is signing and won't be going elsewhere else no matter what and is happy for us to announce the signing then in that situation we would go ahead and do so even without a contract.
