New ground

The first segment of work is to lay the turfs for the school playing fields. To reiterate my previous statements - the ideal time to lay down turves is mid autumn - late winter. Carrying out turf laying spring/early summer requires more early maintenance. Clearly in terms of site logistics the turf laying completed allows movement of the construction activities out towards the Stoke Road so NO the programme clearly calls for the activities to proceed as currently being carried out.

Looks great, but as always with newly-built grounds at Non-League level, they forget to incorporate a TV gantry/media platform at the back of the stand and put roof support pillars there instead.

Clubs then get up to Conference National level where all games have to be filmed for TV broadcasting and suddenly find they have a problem.

Needs to be built into the initial design IMO. (Future-proof).

I'm sure that this is something that will be discussed between the club and council. A very valid point though.

The gantry needs to be incorporated into the main stand as a raised media 'platform' at the back so that TV, radio & press can all work together. That is what happens at most new grounds built from Conference National upwards, although the position of the sun between 3.00.-5.00.p.m. may dictate otherwise if it is shining directly across the pitch into the stand.

It is definitely worth thinking about, because believe me, if you get through to the First Round of the FA Cup and beyond and then get a Home draw against a League side, TV companies will choose grounds where there is a ready-made vantage-point and they do not have to erect their own main half-way line gantry. The logistics of erecting scaffolding towers for TV broadcasting at Non-League grounds are often a nightmare for them and it will put them off if there are other clubs who have a Home draw against a similar standard of opposition in terms of potential number of TV viewers.
