New ground

Whilst the weather on Monday was great and sitting outside the area by the bar was ideal, do we currently have anywhere to sit when it rains or during the winter months?

Give me a minute I'll go and build a roof over the stadium.

Joking apart it's in hand, but when the second phase is finished there'll be loads of places to sit.

Firstly, I'll say it is fantastic we are in the new ground.

What is the schedule though for the completion of the Main Stand?

Was it March 2017? And if so, has there been any information on whether it is on schedule?

The official completion date given by the builders at the start of the project was by the end of February.

I did hear from a good source that this date might be a tad optimistic.

Either way it would be good if it was before the season ends and at the very least be able to hold our end of season presentation do in the new building.

The target for completion of Phase 2 was always Spring 2017, so I make that 20th March at the earliest.

Why the rush to have it open before the end of this season? It's not like we need the seats! I'd rather it's not rushed and then completed in time for a big pre-season friendly to officially open the ground and ready for next season. Hopefully the guys behind the scenes are organising a big local league team to do the honours.

Problem is they have to pack everything away anytime we use it and then get it all out again the next day. I believe now the players aren't using the building on Thursday evenings to help with this.

It would be nice to have the end of season presentations there yes, we've discussed this at trust board meetings. However you have to remember that we have to pay to use it and we do not yet know what arrangements will be in place for the operation of phase 2.

If current capacity is 2,000 that's plenty given our average is less than 600, no need for the extra 300 odd seats the main stand would give. Then again the play offs would be early May so it's possible the stand would be operational or it might be possible to install and use the seating only?

Yes I was there! Kettering are traditionally a much better supported club than we are. Some on here have mentioned we wouldn't get 1,000 for a Christmas fixture which is usually a clubs' biggest crowd of the season, so although of course it's possible we may sell more than 2,000 I think it's likely we wouldn't.

I don't think we'll get 1,000 for our New Year match with Chesham either...... Bank Holiday fixtures usually attract about 20% more than a normal fixture, so I'd predict around 700 (last years Boxing Day match against Chesham was 438).

And I think we would be looking at double the attendance for a home play-off semi-final (approx 1,200) and double that again for a home final (2,400).

Apparently we have had 4000 in the past against Maidenhead at Christmas.

Season 1967/68 when we won the Athenian League Premier for the 1st time i do recall that the crowds at the Dolphin and York Road both exceeded 4000 and I recall we won both games 4-0 after a considerable period when we had been unable to beat Maidenhead.? Also that seasons average home attendance was 1463. That was of course  long time ago and non-league crowds have dropped considerably since then
