New ground

Quick chat with Steve Easterbrook today, he stated that the match day takings at the new ground have been discussed and he seems happy with the agreement. Steve didn't want to give too much away which is understandable.

The first game date of 29th is not set in stone as there are still chances things could be delayed or sped up, but it isn't all in our hands, just depends on how the construction goes.

The pitch already has the FIFA grading and will be one of the flattest around.

Thanks for that bit of info SRJ.

As Steve is happy with the match day arrangements he has made with the Council, I think we can now be fairly sure that we will benefit, in one form or another, from the match day takings i.e. entrance money, food and bar.

Don't suppose you know what FIFA grading the ground was given?

The highest grade possible, from what I understand only 23 pitches in the UK have the grading, though I could be wrong on this.

I drove past our new ground today and was really surprised on the progress made especially on phase two of the main stand. They have now erected the steel frame for the upper tier and it is already looking very impressive.

From what I could see both stands behind the goals now have their roofs on which by my reckoning only leaves the seated stand to have a roof put on and the turnstiles and fencing to be done.

Just a small clarification regarding the pitch. I and 3 others visited about a month ago. As Neil says the pitch is just 1 of 23 in this country to have full FIFA artificial pitch accreditation. As I think I previously posted the under pitch drainage is close centred to allow for good drainage coverage. I also recall that the manager taking us round said there was a small camber which of course would allow for lateral surface drainage in the event of severe rain storm conditions. So whilst flat in the practical sense there is this facility. Unfortunately the pitch yesterday was not in the best condition. I was sitting in the east stand with the southern penalty area to my left. In front of the area there was noticeable undulation and whilst this is speculation on my part I think there has been some differential settlement.

A good splash on the back page of the Observer yesterday about the new ground.

Bit of a shame that the photo they've shown of the ground is an old recycled one.

I'm sure they used the same pic a while ago stating that the building in the background was the main stand.

Agreed SRJ.

Out of interest, where you have the sets on the half way line, to the left and right of this stand will there be back panels (like behind both goals)?

Giving it that finished look?

Perhaps we can't see it because it's dark but I would think there has to be a perimeter fence all round the ground, if that's what you mean?
