New ground

the only problem in us taking bar money would be working out how much we get as the bar will be open thoughout the week when we are not there and the site becomes open to public use. Bar takings would need to be accurately taken before and after our matches to make sure we get the right share of the takings.

Getting back to the ground it self, Neil Baker put up a great video on Twitter

It is becoming real now.

With regards to bar and food provision, going back a few years i was associated with the Slough Jets ice hockey team and the contract they had with the ice arena (at the start it was run by SBC then Slough Community Leisure) had a provision for bar area, food sales and vending machines in the rink during game nights. The total provision was governed under an 80/20 split in favour of the ice hockey team during the game nights. Vending machines and tills were cashed up before and after the match nights and once costs were deducted 80% profit went to the club.

Whether this will be the same, a different agreement or us getting nothing, only the people sorting the contract will know, but im sure when we need to know, we will.

I see the brick idea as a non starter also the naming of the stadium. But I still maintain that all revenue attained by the football club must go to the club, except maybe the rent at a nominal charge. After all it benefits the council to have a successful advert of a football club doing well.

TBH I can't see why, as Glen say's, putting some plaques on some bricks would be a problem for anyone let alone the council.

The naming of the stadium is a bit different and my bet is the red hot favourite the 'Arbour Park Community Stadium'

IMO the rent will have been negotiated along with bar and food takings on match days and functions held by the club.

Not sure the council will have looked too deeply into the fact that a successful football club will benefit SBC.

Oh my god the rumours from reliable sources never stop to amaze me it must be the takings from the bar then that have kept us going !!!

Our chairman is very professional and honest and if he wants you to know things he will tell you and if he doenst its for a good reason.

I am sure he will of done his best to get us the best deal possible at the new stadium can't you just be happy with that.

I would also love to see Pete, Chris, young Chris and David amongst others remembered as well but lets get in first and see what we can do for the future

Sue, I can only say that I was always under the impression that we got nothing from SYCOB and just shelled out the cost of playing there until someone 'in the know' at the club said we do get a % of the bar takings.

I agree with mostly everything else you say except if we are going to benefit from the bar and food takings at Arbour Park supporters need to know because IMO it will cost the club money if we are kept in the dark.

When we were ground sharing in Windsor I started drinking in the Stag and Hounds in preference to the club bar in my effort to reduce the finances that was funding a club that was competing with us directly.

At Beaconsfield after a defeat to SYCOB in one of our promotion chasing seasons one member of the bar staff laughed in my face for looking so miserable. I walked out and never spent another penny behind that bar while we played there. Token gestures maybe but I'm fairly certain I wasn't the only one.

I am not saying I would avoid the bar at the new ground but it is likely to shape pre and post match habits. If some or all the profit goes to the club everyone should always be encouraged to be in there. If not then it makes no difference where people go so they may choose the Herschel for example where the landlord has supported the club for a number of years.

Personally don't think it is an unreasonable question that is overly prying. That said I do just want to see the ground finished and us playing there first and foremost!

I think you're spot on with your comments Martin.

I don't think you will be though Eddie, my point is that Steve has always been honest and whatever benefits the club he will be the first to let us know how we can help.

As far as I am aware hand in heart the only money we make is from the gate, club shop and 500 club but not food and drink.

Lets get in the new ground and be happy for goodness sake I might have to sell from the bar how bad is that :)

Sue, you might be right and I might be wrong but if Steve has negotiated with SBC for us to get some of the profits from the bar and food takings we need to know otherwise our club will lose money.

BTW Aden has always said you can pull a good pint   :D

RR - yes curving along the side to presumably some form of drainage channelling to the outside of the stadium I would guess.

Dave contrary to the original plans it seems that the curved roofs on the stands are curved forward and not sideways.

I suppose it's to complement the main stand.

Although I can't work out how this curved roof will look as on Neil's latest video it appears there's flat/straight roof supports in place on one of the stands?

The video shows that only one end has a roof so far and the curve pushes the water behind the stand. As in, if you looked at it side on the top of the curve faces the pitch and the bottom of the curve facing out of the ground.

From the original isometrics the curves appeared to run parallel with the ground with presumably channelling to pitch the water outside the ground. With the reported revised arrangements the same end result is achieved. With regard to the commemorative wall etc. etc. I think as I said previously is it not best to leave this all alone? All this conjecture cannot be assisting with current negotiations surely.

This subject is something still to be negotiated at Meadowbank for next season, so far as I am aware.  The ground as such will be available for hire from all local clubs. The local Council will be the landlords, BUT it appears that the Surrey F.A. will control the ground, so presumably also the bar and cafe facilities.

As I see it, the only guaranteed income any club using the ground will have, will be what is generated at the turnstiles and money raised through raffles etc., on match day.

Not an ideal situation in my book !

I don't see the brick idea or the naming of the stadium as a non starter but they are surely not a priority for this season, or even next.

Let's just get settled into the stadium and get the basics right first.

The  Chairman and his management committee have served our club and the fans well so far, so I'm sure they've got it all in hand. There's bound to be a few hurdles to overcome and issues to work out between the council and our club but things are moving in the right direction and we fans need to chill out and wait and see what materialises, before we analyse everything and go overboard with all the finer detail.

No of course it's not a priority but would be ideal to have some feedback on whether it's an idea that could become a reality. At the end of the day it's not costing any one and will only make money so it's a win win for everyone but we shall have to sit tight and wait to hear on this and other stadium related news

I'm almost certain we will have no say in naming the stadium.

It's pretty much always been referred to as Arbour Park so I can see no reason why the council will not name it something like the Arbour Park Community Stadium.
