I don't think anyone can answer that question except the council and the company who will install them and of course Glen

Floodlight have been start to be put up. Looks like four on both sides of the pitch .They look like the new street lights but double and about one and half to two times as high

Surprised at that presumed it'll be 4 pylons (1 in each corner). You'd think it'll be cheaper too than 8 pylons?

By having four pylons down each side you get a more even light across the whole pitch and need less stronger bulbs, as each just has to reach just over half way across for their section. When you have them just in the corners you need to have much stronger and more costly bulbs as they also have to reach right up and just over the half way line.

 

So running costs are actually lower, even though there are twice the amount of pylons

As per my recent post the adjacent housing will also dictate the lighting configuration. Without looking back the schematics I think showed this type of lighting.

It most likely has something in connection to us having a FIFA accredited pitch. As part of the accreditation their may well be something to do with the amount of lighting on the pitch which generally means there needs to be a minimum amount of light on every part of the pitch which may only be achievable by having 8 floodlights.

I'm sure the bigger/FL/PL clubs don't have light issues with only 4 pylons. Anyway it's likely to be a neighbourhood issue and not light one.
