New ground

Don't get me wrong very happy to be watching the Rebels in a new stadium just seems to be a lack of official info. I see many other clubs with new grounds/improvements that plaster news everywhere.

Might be because we aren't in charge of the project the council is. Remember back to the managers forum we had a few seasons ago when Rob Anderson held a Q&A, Steve Easterbrook asked as many questions as anyone else as even he hadn't been told much about the project.

Steve Easterbrook is always very good at making sure the right information comes out as soon as possible to keep us informed.

A few months ago the only bit of info that was circulating was that the CSF project was well in advance of the planned schedule. Since then there has been no problems with the weather so I can see no reason to doubt that the new ground will be, at the very least, ready on time.

As for giving us details about the CSF, I don't think we can expect to be told any of the details about any deal that Steve may have struck with the council regarding the catering, bar etc but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect some information from the club along the lines of:

'Discussions have taken place with the council regarding our forthcoming tenure at the new CSF and we would like to inform our supporters that those negotiations were satisfactory in their outcome'. 'At the same time we can also confirm that the CSF project is well on schedule to be completed in time for the coming football season'

IMO something similar to the above would go a long way to allaying any fears that Stuntman Mark and any other supporters may have.

Which makes it even worse if the council can't promote this brand new expensive sports facility that's for the whole town! Nevermind as Mark says it'll be so much better than where we've been.

.......but don't you think all the Slough fans will miss that lovely sweet aroma, that greets us when we go through the turnstiles at Holloways Park ! ha ha !

Nobody should be giving a cast iron guarantee on an outdoor erection things may be on or ahead of schedule but although unlikely we may have a very wet summer Im sure we will get regular progress reports especially if the progress starts to slip.

3spirit, you may still get that sweet aroma as I've heard that the burger wagon that's at SYCOB is moving to the new stadium

Passed by Arbour/Orchard Park yesterday and things appear to be moving along OK. The outside of the sports hall looks virtually finished and the Main Stand/Admin block car park now has kerbstones depicting the parking areas. Couldn't tell much else.

Knowing that things can come together quickly is a comfort, but they've only got 2.5 months to have it ready for the first game!

It isn't the burger van that pongs.

Guest route104

those who can remember the move to Wexham Park in 1974 the ground was very basic for the first match just the main stand and a fence round pitch and standing on grass mounds it took quite a few years to bring it up to scratch but we will be alright on the day

  • 2 weeks later...

Sounds about right, probably less than what we had at SYCOB if you include the field. Can imagine the uproar if we draw a capacity crowd and the parking issues!

Not sure what the school parking capacity will be but, as you say, if we ever drew anywhere near the maximum crowd we could potentially have a problem.

With most if not all cremations being midweek perhaps we could use the crematorium for parking?
