New ground

Got to know a Chippenham player he is not a fan of playing on 3G pitches.

Thats quite an interesting comment, RD.

Lots of players state they find 3G very taxing on muscles, ankles and knee joints.

Rightly or wrongly, I'm afraid that 3G has to be the way forward with the way our climate is changing.  I'm sure all will get used to it quite quickly.

Incidently, we are still awaiting the final decision on planning for the new 3G pitch and ground at Meadowbank, Dorking.  Why DO local authorities take so bl00dy long over simple things?

Done some digging (excuse the pun) and found out that the 2 end and 1 side stand will be the metal constructed type of stand and not the concrete/steel stands I thought we were getting. A little disappointed in that the plans have changed as these are obviously cheaper than brick built stands with proper concrete terracing which I was under the impression we'd have, or was it just me thinking that!

The architectural drawings didn't specify the fabrics, only what the original design was going to look like.

As you say, you can assume from the designs, but that is still only conjecture and not fact, even if the conjecture turns out to be correct later on.

I'm sure if you access the local Council authority web-site that dealt with the planning application, you would be able to find out exactly what the specifications are.

I'm quite able to access Mole Valley District Council planning applications to see the revised building plan for Meadowbank.  Final hearing for revised plans supposed to be next month, but we all know how long bureaucracy takes !!

I do feel a certain sense of uncertainty going into the new season - will the ground be ready? what will it look like? and most important, will there be a bar? However I would take that a million times over the depressing realisation you have another season at SYCOB (no offence to our gracious hosts).

The ground is what it is, probably too late to complain about the materials being used, colour of the seats etc. Instead, we need to think about what we can do as fans, to turn it into a fortress that people other than us sad bastards want to come to every other week.
