richierebel
I thought that as I had touched on it on another thread and went slightly off topic I would start a new topic with marketing / advertising ideas people had. Obviously not all ideas will work or be viable but with gates dropping to around 250 every new supporter helps!!! Passing Trade, we are right next to the main entrance / exit to the M40 but approaching the ground or driving past there are no signs / A boards that actually mention that Slough Town play there. There is a huge service station with people taking a break or staying in the hotel there that may want to do something other than sit in their hotel room or airport terminal style building for their break, is it worth approaching the hotel or pub to see if we can put out posters or A Boards informing people there is a game of football just over the road? I don`t get to many away games these days, but I did go to Leamington, I also popped to watch my mates kid football training with Rugby juniors, what was noticeable were the facilities they had for kids, but also McDonalds were major sponsors for the kids game up that way. Is that all youth football or just in the midlands. Maybe there are grants that are available to us that we didn`t know about, I know the local cricket club are after a grant possibly from the lottery to refurbish their club house. I am sorry if I am treading on anyones toes or these ideas have been tried or done before but every supporter helps that we can get through that gate. I put on monthly comedy nights at my pub, I have Bob Mills coming to headline my Christmas Comedy, Zoe Lyons this month, I am happy to try and organise one at the Polish Club if people are interested. Also I was on a training course and someone pointed out this new type of quiz that is done on peoples smart phones, you do need WiFi at the venue but it is good fun http://www.speedquizzing.com/

There is a board, in the trees, as you approach the ground from the M40 that only says about SYCOB games, no mention of Slough. The excellent posters we had last season, were they ever put over the service station?
rebelade
I've supplied the Trust with a flag/flagpole to be put roadside by the entrance (flag is not STFC but just a template) and was told there may be a problem with puting up there ie council approval
RebelDelaney
Can we not share and put our own publicity over the Beconsfield board which is outside the ground in advance of our home games.

Perhaps ask the leader of the council?
GarySTFC
South Bucks council ground right there. From history, we should know they're not very supportive of any building works!
GlenSTFC
Don't want to sound negative but whilst we're at Beaconsfield I don't think anything is really going to entice new support unless we're top and/or giving free entry. Once we get the new ground (wasn't work suppose to start this month?) that's when a big marketing drive is needed.

So if anyone is passing by Arbour Vale perhaps they could see if anything is stirring.

richierebel
Glen I don`t disagree with you that we need to do a marketing job when we move back, but we need people through the gates now. We have the perfect place for passing trade, but as it stands, if you dont know it is there, by the time you do, it is too late. We need to get our attendances back to nearer 300. A Rebel and a Saint
Some of us are already working on marketing the club to the community... 8th November anyone?
Sir Rebel1965
Have just compared last years average attendance to this and iam a bit concerned. Last year we averaged 299, and so far this year we are at 263. The performances have not been great and there is not the warm glow from promotion, but that is still a 10% drop of the now hard-core fans. From a marketing point it is now too late to push season tickets, the weather will be turning and that will not appeal to new bodies to come and freeze there walnuts on a cold and dark Tuesday night. A better strategy would be to wait until March/April and start the push then with a loyalty promotion for the end of this season, like turn up to 5 games in March/April, linked to a benefit when we get into the new ground - like a T-shirt saying "I watched STFC at the scum pit called Holloways park" or something like that. That way the effort put in this season delivers bodies into the new ground.
Bernie Gogan
I like the March/April strategy, reduced prices for the new season for a further 5 or 6 games possibly, free pint every week maybe, food discounts, even hospitality package rewards. T-shirts with "I've watched the Rebels throughout the homeless years" would be good!
Rebel Kay
Absolutely agree with the big push in the Spring, but we still need to be chipping away now. Hence all the work over the summer with the school fetes, Polish Club etc. We will be in the Observatory on 8th November and will support school Christmas fairs etc. We are going to be working with Sebastian's Action Trust over the coming months All of the above with the intention of putting the name of Slough Town into the minds of the community. Improved results, a run in the Trophy and the FA Youth Cup will all help but anything that any one can do to increase the gate, bring a friend, organise an event, put some fixture leaflets somewhere will also help. It doesn't have to be something big and time consuming.
