Dorchester (h) - 6th October

Pretty much everything has been said about this match which puts a decent distance between us and the bottom four in terms of points. My man of the match was Paul Stonehouse or if this had to be a choice from permanent players then it would be Adrian Sear.

I think some loans can be extended with mutual agreement as if these loanees earn us points then we can try to keep them for longer.

The only hesitation I have is how the players they replace will react, both in the immediate and more particularly when they return to take over from the loan lads.

nyway, onwards and upwards towards mid table.

Yes Graham, a valid point about how the under performing players will respond but if they care about the club and playing well for the team, they need to be aware that their performances haven't been good enough, as last night's game proved, and this should buck up their ideas !

If not, they may not be at the club for much longer but that's up to Bakes and Unders to decide.

It was a great result last night and a much better performance, but I think we need to go careful about getting carried away with a result which was very flattering.... let's be honest, Warren's goal was a goalkeeping howler, Strutton's was a defensive error, and Mpi's came from a late counter when Dorchester were chasing the game.

On balance I think we did deserve the win, but it was much closer than 4-1.

Fantastic performance last night, easily the best this season. As a member of STRADS

(who sponsered the game), I picked the man of the match last night and gave it

to Paul Stonehouse, hope you all agree with tnis.

COYR

He was an excellent choice. What a difference having an assured left back, a clever footballer and one who is mobile/skilful enough to go forward with every opportunity.

He made it look easy, didn't he?

I'd slightly see that differently, Curtis. From what I could see from the far end, I'd agree Warren's goal was a keeper error but the goals for our pair of Charlie's were as a result of putting them under pressure and forcing mistakes. It's sort of what teams have been doing to us.

Dorchester's keeper was their second string keeper, I believe. However, let's not deflect what a good all round Slough team performance that was last night . The management and the fans having been waiting for that for awhile, so let's enjoy it for what it is.

Last night's performance is something to build on. Onwards and upwards !

Personally do not think it was flattering in the slightest, we could have been in front by more than 2 goals at half time, we have had a number of close shaves, hicks header, guy hollis header, Declan over the bar, ball in from Sean, Puts with a chance in the box, Charlie with chance in the box, the unreal save from their keeper from deflection, yes keeper should have done better with Warrens strike, but personally delighted for Wazza (he has been unlucky in front of goal recently) and sometimes a bit of luck can kick you on.... that is his first goal since Rugby play off game.

Second half probably less chances, but we could have been 3 up with Charlies chance at start of second half.

Yes they have had strikes from distance second half (don't recall heart in the mouths at all first half) but most I would expect Scottie to deal with (however he did make one or two excellent saves also)... I felt for our work rate and desire we were 3 goals better than them (same way I said against Bideford we were poor and didn't deserve the win)

Have to disagree completely there Curtis.

Yes, Warrens goal was a bit of good fortune but for me we completely out-worked Dorchester, getting in their faces at every opportunity (a bit like teams have been doing to us) we were first to every ball and won every battle and really could have been 3 or 4 up at half time. I think if the Dorchester manager was honest he'd admit that we gave them a bit of a pasting last night.

Agree about their player manager moaning a lot! Couldn't work out if it was at the ref (who i thought had a good game) or at his players! Maybe a mixture of both! He should have concentrated on playing not moaning!

Can see what Curtis is saying but being unfair on what was a good display in my opinion. Good saves from Scotty but what are keepers there for? Not to discredit him as he is a very good keeper, best we have had for a long time, maybe since warro if not better!

Chance to go 3 wins in a row now!

I thought Wazza put in his best performance last night, since his recovery from injury. Not just in his attacking play but his general work rate at closing down players. This bodes well for future games.

Also the service we gave to the front two was much better and needs mentioning.

Charlie Strutton is very unlikely to score many with his head but given a ball to his feet in the penalty area and he's likely to poach you a goal. He may not be as fit as he could be but as a striker he is instinctive.

With Charlie Mpi playing well, we actually look like a team that can score goals, which we haven't been that confident about for a little while.

Hopefully 'Puts' can build on his confidence with his goal last night, if we can get him scoring from open play, as well as free kicks, we'll be a force to be reckoned with.

With Eddie and Scotty to come back soon, too but none of them will score when the service is poor, when we play long high hopeful balls into the box to no one in particular.

On his day Worro was good, kicking was a bit iffy, but for me Scotty is much better and the best we've had for a few years.

One bad thing from last nights game was that there were 3 scouts there looking at us and Dorchester.

The scout in front of the commentary box at the start of the game wrote Slough Town on one page and Jonah Ayunga on the other and I'm fairly sure he had plenty to write about slough but very little about Ayunga who our defenders closed down and shut up last night.

Not sure who they were scouting for but unfortunately they came to see our best performance o the season and will now have to prepare accordingly to stop us playing at our best.

Any way that's not something we have to worry about very much right. We can just savour a well earned 3 points against a very strong side.
