cup of tea
Disappointing turnout for this game, thought there would be more West Ham fans turn up. Quite a few changes from the usual team with George Purcell and David Knight both on the bench. Both sides passing the ball but it really didn't seem to get going as a game. Nice move from West Ham for the goal, Hornchurch did have chances as well Well done to West Ham for bringing a team down and also to the assistant referee for providing alternative entertainment! - Think he must have broken the record of how many times someone looks at his/her watch in 45 minutes! Wivenhoe Urchin
Agreed about the turnout. There were questions over whether the game was publicised well enough. We have to also remember it was a youth squad we played. There were hardly any people wearing West Ham gear. It was a fairly entertaining and close game where we could have scraped a result. Eastside Urchin
Why do you think there was going to be shit loads of West Ham fans there??? I didn't They were playing at Sunderland and 3000 fans travelled up there. Also pretty much every pub was showing the games, plus who really watched their under 21 development squad.....no one,so they ain't going to bother turning up for a last minute arranged game when they can stay in the pub or stay at home and watch the first team on a stream
Wivenhoe Urchin
Yes I did expect more west ham fans there when you consider how many have turned up in similar games in the past. I was more referring though to locals who are more neutrals, who in the past have seen posters up but perhaps didn't this time. I didn't see one but had heard they were being put up. Some of those people hastily arranged something to do yesterday but could have come to this game if they found out about it.
Eastside Urchin
The games before have been arranged for weeks, and when publicised its pre season. Why do you think in this day and age, when most footy fans of PL clubs can now watch their team play live through streams,do you think they are going to watch the under 21s v Hornchurch in a friendly, come on
