Harrow Borough v Enfield Town

littlehampton

Recommended Posts

Tonight Town travel to Earlsmead to play high-flying Harrow Borough, who have made a great start to the new campaign, and are comfortably placed in the RPL table. Last season we  went down 2-0 in the corresponding fixture, and will need to maintain our recent improvement in form, and put away chances, if we are to get something out of this match.

With new signings settling in well, and players coming back from injury, Town are on a good run of results and beginning to look more like the team they were at the end of last season. This is a difficult fixture, but let's hope we play to our potential and show what we are capable of this evening.

Good luck to Brad and the boys. Let's do the business guys.

'COME ON YOU TOWN'

Sounds a bit like the howler by the Arsenal keeper in their Champions League match last night. All goals are good goals when you win. Pleased to hear we deserved the three points.

Let's hear your thoughts if you were at the match. Who was our 'Man of the Match' last night?

So many positives last night. I thought that was the best Harrow team I have seen in a very long time. They moved the ball very quickly and with real purpose and played with width when in possession. The way they set up , maintained their shape and played through thirds as opposed to the typical Ryman " just turn them around " was a credit to the coach(es).  Tyler was outstanding in the first half, especially when receiving the ball to feet in wide areas in the final third and being confident enough to take a risk and exploit 1v1's with the full back. Overall our work rate was first class and with Stan and Claudio back we look a different team to early August. The 'keepers mistake for the goal was one of the worst I have seen in 37 years watching Enfield. It was as uncomfortable as watching Dennis Byatt trailing in Ash's wake.

I still fondly remember Port Vale's Steve Cherry missing a kick outside his area and Hastings' Gerry Armstrong (who later became a top tennis umpire) doing the same, both in FA Cup ties in the early 80s. But this was right up there with them.

Thanks guys, really good to hear such positive feedback. I have just read the excellent match report by Ken Brazier, and admired Tom Scott's superb action photography, which provide a really good feel for the game, and a much appreciated contribution for Towners unable to get to every match.

After an indifferent start to the season, Town are now really starting to get their act together, and are steadily climbing up the RPL table. Maintain this progress, and by Christmas, if not before, we should be knocking on the door of the play-off places again. Plenty of work to be done, and a long way to go, but with a fine young Manager, and a strong squad of players, the future looks bright and (whisper it) this could be our season. One swallow doesn't make a summer, but our recent run of results are very encouraging. Keep it up guys!
