Such a difficult game to sum up. As predicted, quite a few negative posts on here looking at the basic scoreline facts, mostly from people who weren't there (a statement not a criticism). And it is difficult to argue that on most levels - but I want to clarify a few things that I, and I know a few others who were with me, felt about the game. The first half performance was not terrible, indeed we played some good football at times, most notably when dhillon and hope got involved. What was terrible were the mistakes that led to the goals, which all came in some shape or form from leamington breakaways.

The first should have been disallowed as, despite not touching the ball, the offside 3 took Sean's attention away from the 11 who nipped into cross. However, the marking from the cross was non existent to offer their 10, who was big enough to not need the added advantage of being alone in the 6 yard box, a simple finish. The second left jhai isolated as a long punt forward floated over his head leaving him 1 on 2 and the inevitable happened. There is no excusing the third which was as embarrassing a goal to concede as I have ever seen. Firstly, mark Scott managed to give away a corner after his clearance struck their striker and he was forced to put the ball behind. Then the corner was rolled short to a player who seemingly turned invisible to our players if not us fans to cross to the, once again, unmarked 10.

So 3-0 down and we had probably had 55% possession and 60% territorial advantage. Now I was quite verbal after the third goal as were others but what I will always respect is a team with seemingly very little to play for coming out and playing for pride and respect in a second half and i don't believe there was anyone at that game tonight that can argue that we did that second half. Martin and hope dominated the midfield, Scott Harris showed his strength which was so blatantly lacking in the first half and we actually worked the keeper on a number of occasions. Yes they broke away numerous times and, but for some woeful finishing, could have doubled the victory score, but we battled and we tried and we showed that passion and pride that above all us fans want to see. That is why, along with 95% of the slough fans in attendance, I clapped and sang our team off the pitch tonight to fight again Saturday while the victorious leamington fans scurried away silently into the night surprisingly quiet after a 3-0 win. The team need us fans more so now than during a winning run.

Ian and others are quite right, it shouldn't take a half time rollicking to get us going, but there are positives and while we are in this slump we have to hold on to these. Despite our depleted numbers tonight, the second half atmosphere was better than most games when we are winning and we have to keep recreating this over the next few weeks and some must win games.

Keep the faith - in the hear of the moment this is sometimes tough such as after the third goal tonight, but we will win again and when we do I can see confidence building quickly as we are not far away. We have to cut out the individual (and group) errors and get back to basics. UP THE REBELS!!!

Strange how a lot of the comments on a thread entitled Leamington are from fans who were not even there ! Keyboard warriors springs to mind.

WR, bit unfair your post. Just because some fans don't go to every away game, doesn't make them a bad supporter.Plus week nights not always easy for working fans.

In actual fact the best supporters must be the ones that go to all the home games,as the profit goes to the club not the opposition !

3spirit, I don't think WR was having a go at supporters for not going to the game but just for making comments about a game they weren't at.

Good post Radders.

You say Adam Martin and Ryan Hope dominated the midfield in the second half, how did they perform in the first half?

Apart from the ease they scored I was pleased with the way we reacted and started to pass and move better.

The problem as I saw it, other than the ease they scored, was we could not attack well as Scott was almost a lone striker with putts wide until we committed the midfield to support them. Why do we wait until we are behind before we start playing this way?

I thought Dan and Ryan did well and Lewis was my motm. Whilst a few could have done better technically, not naming!, the commitment was there.

Let's try to get behind the team for Saturday.

We were talking at the game last night about the expected posts from fans who didn't attend the match, and got what we expected.

3spirit, I work in central London and managed to get to the game and back home just after 11pm thanks to the lift from maidenheadrebel, and then I woke up at before 6 to go back to work.

But that's not really the point. Radders' post is spot on and a very accurate reflection, no need to dive in talking about wholesale squad changes or anything. It was a similar story to previous games where we simply conceded poor goals but played well otherwise, particularly second half where we dominated possession and chances. The Leamington fans went home quiet as they had been through most of the second half and their twitter person said that the scoreline was perhaps a bit harsh on us.

One crucial point last night was a scuffed shot from Scott Harris which was so bad it had actually beaten the keeper. Unfortunately it rolled against the post which to me sums up most of our play over the last month or so. We are getting in good positions but unfortunately it's not quite going in. Those of us who saw the second half last night know that those players have everything to get something on the board.

It may require a couple of extra players yes, but we still have the core of a very good squad that is low on confidence.

It looks like we are in the middle of Footballers Human Nature syndrome, which happens at all levels from us to Liverpool and Manchester Utd.

Players know what they can do, what pass to make, and what positions on the pitch they should be in, but it no longer happens naturally.

This makes them force it to happen, which only makes the errors worse, and the player trying even harder.

This happens at all levels and the proof of good managers and players is to get back to the natural ability where things happen because they just do and not because they are being forced to.

Same goes for other sports. Take golf.

If you can actually play golf and you swing, the ball is hit well and travels far. If you force it, you swing incorrectly and hit the ball wrong because your timing is all out.

The players have the ability they just have to realise that they can't force it. Which sounds like what happened in the second half.

Our mo-jo WILL come back

Superb post Radders

Not really anything can add to that.

At 3-0 down the game is basically done but the players at least went out 2nd half and restored some pride. Before someone says well that doesn't get us any points I am fully aware of that as are the managers and players I am sure

In the form we are in, the 2nd half performance is a positive however slim to try and build on for a massive game at the weekend

Not sure anyone expected us to win tonight so I'm not surprised we're losing just worried where the next points will come as tonight could be 4 defeats in a row and losing becomes a habit as much as winning does. Any new signings I'm guessing won't be available until after Saturday's game?

Glen,I think we made a few 7 day approaches, one in particular could be spoken to on Sunday/Monday this week, so could be available if signed, not sure on the others.

If you're not at the game you obviously have no right to comment on individual player performances but if you are listening to rebels radio and following twitter etc you have an idea of whats going right or wrong in the game and IMO have every right to comment on the obvious parts of the game like poor defending, missed chances etc.

Wasnt there last night and these comments therefore relate to other posts from those that were, as well as posts relating to the last few games).

On that basis we end up with a mixture of concern and confusion..........there are regular criticisms of our midfield (not strong enough, going missing etc), of our strikers(not firing at present) and of our defence(giving away soft/easy goals). There is also much comment about tactics in the sense that players may be playing out of position(strikers on the wing), too many long high balls, what sort of width we should use in general.

Seems from all this that nothing is right, yet we all know that not to be true..............the squad looks better than at the end of last season, the players seem to like playing for Slough, and for the managers, who themselves show great commitment to the club and want the success as much as we do, as well as being honest with us on here and in person.

I like the thought of specialist coaches but they dont come for free so the current group is what has to get us moving up the table.............things can change with belief, energy , effort and some of the luck that has eluded us of late.

As side with even worse stats than us is visiting on Saturday so there is a great chance of getting back to winning ways and a gradual move up to the mid table level that will please most supporters before we move to the new ground next season.

So let's keep the faith..............................
