Squad changes

I understand the need to freshen up the squad and free up some money for signings but getting rid of two players loyal to Bakes and Unders is a bit nuts to me this season, in my opinion, especially if we get drawn into a relegation battle.

With Ben not playing much, I suppose there is some logic to him leaving, being that he is a coach as well and may be on more money.

I would have let Adam Martin go first, as he is probably more expensive than Clurgy and hasn't been playing well for awhile and to my mind, is not consistent enough and only has one good game in five.

Then I would probably have looked at moving on one of our goalkeepers.

Also the injury ridden Adrian Sear would have had to come onto the radar, regardless of the talent he has when he is fit.

Hope our managers get it right, though, whatever they do.

we have sent statement up to the web team so should be online soon, and that mentions Rummy coming back shortly.

........and who knows Rummy's play better than Clurgy !

Can't see how you would let Martin or Sears go before McClurg.

McClurg has been completely lost in the last few games and I can remeber him making any dangerous forward passes. Wether it is because he just can't handle this level or if it is something else in his life affecting him (remember he has two young children) he isn't the same player as two years ago.

A good start at refreshing the squad. Edwards and Webb were pretty much out of the team anyway and Gokmen needs that playing time, as I think once he does would make a steady, reliable player for us. Mcclurg is the first of the "out of their depth" players to go and 100% a good decision.

Well done to our managers on making these 1st moves, Rumbold returning will be a massive boost to the team as he is a quality player, other additions hopefully will serve to strengthen the squad and put us back on the right track.

Rebel1965 - I'm afraid the time for being tough with the players has come, and every supporter has the right to have and air their opinions. I'm sure that both Adam Martin and Adrian Sear (for different reasons) aren't happy with the season so far and will be looking to improve to keep their places in the side and squad. As for calling out individuals or saying players that you believe should have gone / stay, that's the idea of a forum as a place to put forward opinions to discussion, whether you agree or otherwise, here is place to debate. Personally I disagree with 3spirit about releasing Martin or Sear before Mcclurg, but I'd much rather debate the point than either of us say nothing.

Agree with Sue, we still have games to play and saying who should go is not on - at the end of season yes, but we are fighting to stay out of the bottom 4 and need to keep the team spirit to get results.

What difference does a fan's honest opinion count for anything ! The players know all fans have their favourites and ultimately, the managers make all the decisions.

If they want to come on to this fans forum, they should expect to see honest opinion, not bullshit and flannel !

Perhaps the players should have their own forum, so they can pat each other on the back and say how wonderful they are !

Come on people let's keep it real.

Hopefully Rummy will be fit and ready to play if required.

However he is only a short term solution and hopefully by then our form will have picked up and Rummy will have a fight on his hands to get into the team.

100% agree with that 3spirit. The idea of the forum is to discuss opinions and whilst we obviously disagree about Mcclurg over the past 18 months or so, I'd much rather have a place to discuss our opinions honestly.

Fingers and toes crossed for the Rumbold that we all know and love to return and hit the ground, quite literally running

SloughFlyer, agree 100% on your last paragraph about honest debate.

A fit Adrian Sear I would take over Jamie McClurg.

Adam Martin is a Premier division player but for me, he's not consistent enough, looks for the easy pass[sideways mostly] and doesn't want to tackle.

What's equally frustrating with him is, like yesterday, he plays well in the big games but is a no show, when we're battling it out for points against teams like Frome, Bedworth, Burnham ie the lesser games.

Whatever you think of Jamie McClurg or Ben Edwards come to that, both play with their heart on their sleeve and those will always be the players I like best.
