cup of tea
Game of two halves. The first half performance from Maldon was the best I've seen from an opposing team all season - organisation, good passing and a lot of pace up front. Think it gets summed up by their goalkeeper making a point blank save at 0-2 up and they ran through to the other end to make it 3-0 Second half, I don't know whether they got tired or we just upped our game (or both) but we increasingly got into the game, deserved to get a goal and could have easily got others - at one point their centre half cleared off the line without really knowing anything about it. Ref was excellent, no complaints there. I don't like losing but you can't knock the football from the opposition in the first half. Big game on Saturday, let's look forward to that. Eastside Urchin
I turned up at half time and saw a decent hornchurch performance. The fact that,I am led to believe that this is basically colchesters under 21 side, does mean that they will be fit, technically good and able to knock the ball about, where they would struggle is physically and I assume Collis was brought in to bulk it up and he looked our best player. Robh 1962
They looked a very good team first haĺf. Surprised their not higher in the league. Perhaps they have to play for Colchester every other week!
shrimper
no excuses beaten by the better team on the night made us look slow in the first half we improved in the second half and maldon switched off , quite a few of the maldon team had past links to the colchester youth academy rather than the under 21 squad but on this showing and their win at sudbury makes them look favourites at the moment for the title also shows this is really 2 leagues in one and the huge difference between the top and lower half of the league
