Enfield Town v Ipswich Wanderers

After last nights big morale-boosting win over North London rivals Wingate & Finchley, we turn our attention to our next home match this Saturday, when Suffolk side Ipswich Wanderers are the visitors at Donkey Lane, for  our FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie, with £4,500 prize money at stake for the winners.

Wanderers play two levels below us in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Premier Division. They are currently 16th in the Table, and have lost all three of their away League fixtures to date. Last Saturday they went down 5-1 away to 2nd in the Table Godmanchester Rovers.

In the previous FA Cup qualifying round, Wanderers caused something of an upset by knocking out Canvey Island 1-0 at the Doucy. The winning goal was scored after 34 minutes by Matt Mackenzie.

We know, all to well, that you take nothing for granted in cup competitions. The Canvey result serves as a warning, and Brad and the boys definitely won't want to be Wanderers second RPL scalp.

Our FA Cup countdown begins. Don't miss this match!

See you there.

A year ago this weekend we were playing Conference South side Eastbourne Borough away in The FA Cup. Our guys did us proud, they secured a well deserved draw, and in an epic replay, narrowly lost out in a penalty shoot-out after extra time.

Tomorrow we have home advantage and look forward to welcoming everyone from Ipswich Wanderers to the QE2 Stadium for another FA Cup battle. If it is half as exciting as last years contest, it should be quite a game.

The FA Cup has a magic all of its own. Get down to the QE2 tomorrow afternoon, show local pride, and get behind Town as they battle to reach the next round in this famous old competition.

Good luck to Brad and the boys.

The BIG DAY has arrived.

Let's all get down to the QEII this afternoon and give Town plenty of vocal support and encouragement.

Come on Enfield Town Ultras, get that drum beating again, and let's hear it for Brad and the lads today.

Good luck everyone.

Fair play to Ipswich today, they had a go at us but weren' t quite good enough. I predicted a 4-0 win to us at the start of the game and but for a decent keeper and a back 4 that threw themselves at every shot that we had, my prediction would have been right. Love tayshan, saw his 10 minute cameo at St. Margeretsbury in the pre season friendly and thought wow. We've got a really promising player on our hands here.

Well done Town and credit to Ipswich Wanderers for their decent workman-like performance which helped keep the score respectable. Town, who had stacks of possession,  deserved to go through, but they squandered chance after chance throughout the match, when in all honest they should have put the game to bed long before half-time. A single goal margin is always dangerous, and it was just as well Wanderers didn't get lucky from one of their few chances in the match.

The men from Suffolk can be proud of their performance, whilst Town will be hoping for a dream home tie in tomorrows draw. Fingers crossed!
