Train for 13 weeks or so at a rough guess

After training between 26K and 35K, depending on the company, a lot of people start at poxy companies like this one and go onto Virgin and freight trains, Eurostar drivers get about 50K. You can earn a fortune in overtime though and pay rises are always stupidly high otherwise you go on strike.

As many sick days as you want, you don't get too much hassle because if you have a headache for example you can argue that you shouldn't be driving a train. More days after fatalites, near misses and signals turning red in front of you.

You'll realise that when you don't have to pay a stupid amount of cash for train travel that it's actually a nice alternative to the Audi, or just ask for one in the next round of pay talks!

The real skill, allegedly, is to drive into London mainline stations during morning rush hour, one man on the dead mans handle, to keep the train moving, and the other holding your copy of the 'Sun' open at Page 3. I joke NOT!
