New Rosta

Recommended Posts

A new rosta is coming in at work in a couple of months, it's a 12hr rosta meaning that in a 5 week period (35 days) I only work 15 days and have 20 off!

Now that's now work should be!

I also get 10 days off in a row every 5 weeks without using a days holiday <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

So we'll have two shifts: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700, this also means that I get all my evenings back as well apart from when I work nights!

er why not..? so you can burn wood in barrels and get on sky news.. im getting concerned that the firm the voice is becoming a bit 'mainstream' in his old age.. a bit , dare i say it 'conservative'..

a few years back changing the size of the tea cups would have had him chaining himself to a train (even if they made em bigger) ..

i guess it just goes to prove we are all getting older

The only people who go on strike on the railway are drivers and guards and they are the biggest pisstakers out of all of them. They know that they are the hub of the railway and the finacial penatlies are so high now that they can hold anyone to randsom and they know it. Drivers can go AWOL, stroll in late, refuse to drive for some crap reason and never get sacked as it costs so much to train them.

Mind you I'd be happy to go on strike, this job used to be considered a higher grade and more important job than driving but train crews wages go up about 7.5% a year while we get about 3%. I'd go on strike but we are dispensable.

Mainstream - never!

When you drove a train from St Albans to Kings Cross, would it be fair to say that, strictly speaking, your boss didn't know a great deal about it!!?

My mates a driver on Thameslink so it had nothing to do with Silverlink!
He was busy texting some bird he met in Blackpool so I kept an eye out for red lights!

Tut. We'd never do that sort of thing! lol

Strange enough, I 've just put in for a similar job - maintenance planner, where I'll get 55 days off out of 140.

Of those left 'working', 24 are 'spare days' where you are actually covering not a lot (unless somebo else is off).

Sounds good to me - plus it's another £10,000 a year rise!
