FA CUP: Billericay Town v Enfield Town

A 3-0 loss to BT in the Ryman League after an early send off and a penalty and having to play them Away again poses somewhat of a challenge for ET.

BT have a win and a draw against $101 Premiership contenders Merstham as well as a draw against Needham.

Let's hope their 3-0 win over us at Billericay was a glitch and that our relatively better(just) form against East Thurrock, Bognor Regis and Canvey Island might see us get a much needed win.

BT 9-2-3-3 9pts 19th

ET 9-1-2-6 5pts 21st

BT have let in 12 goals while ET have ceded 13.

BT $2.20 Draw $3.60  ET $2.62

From BTFC website -

"Tomorrow we meet  Enfield Town in the 1st Qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup.

We have had the better of the visitors here at New Lodge with 5-0 and 3-0 wins in our most recent games.

Like ourselves Enfield haven't had the best of starts although we come into the game on the back of two good performances against Dulwich and Merstham.

Team News

Joe Ellul is still out with an ankle injury and is joined on the sidelines by Ejiro Okoseima with a hip problem. Fit again are Jack Edwards and Shameek Farrell. Craig has added Mason Bloomfield a 6'4" striker on a dual registration with Chelmsford City. Mason was previously with Dagenham & Redbridge. He is strong and pacy and will add good competition for places. Also signed is the vastly experienced Cliff Akurang. Cliff is equally happy at CB or as a frontman where he has enjoyed great success over the years. Both are in the squad for tomorrows tie.

Going in the opposite direction are Harry Baker and Lewis Manor. We welcome Mason and Cliff and thank Harry and Lewis for their time at Billericay"

Very best of luck to Brad and the lads, and all you Towners at the match this afternoon.

If we play with the same pride, passion and commitment, we saw in the match at Bognor last weekend, we will get something out of this match today.

Fingers crossed!

'COME ON YOU TOWN'

Half-time:

Billericay 1-0 Enfield Town

Billericay hold a slender one goal advantage at the interval. Town have hit the bar twice in the first half and are far from out of this match. Let's hope we can make the extra man tell, grab an equaliser and bring them back to the QE2 Stadium for a replay on Tuesday evening. Better still, let's win it today! Come on guys.

Hey,hey, all over folk, and it's good news!

Full-time score:

Billericay 1-1 Enfield Town

Great result, and we can all look forward to an FA Cup replay, under the lights at the QE2 Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Very well done to Brad and the boys on securing this result. It is never easy over there. Now we have home advantage, and a real chance of progressing and making some much needed money for the Club.

Well done to all you Towners who supported our guys today. Look forward to getting up for the replay and adding my vocal support. Be very interested to read your thoughts on the match today.

Great work..thanks for the match reports.

Off to the local Grand Final this afternoon as Canberra FC play Canberra Olympic....unfortunately my team, Gungahlin United came 5th in their first year in the Premier Division.

Here's hoping for a win on Tuesday night.

What sort of match penalty/fine does the bloke who was sent off get?

How does the system work at the Ryman level?

Yesterday was more of the same of what we've been served already this season. Not many shots on target and too many long balls to very small forwards that the opposition clear with ease. The one positive point about yesterday was Ottaway, who did challenge for the long ball and won a few but until an understanding is forged with any of the other 3 strikers probably won't reap much reward.

Can we please go back to playing it about on the deck ? It worked well for us last season and was great to watch.
