I suppose different Leagues mean different rules.

As I understood it when I was involved, once the referee is handed both team sheets, checked them and accepted his copy, usually around 15-30 minutes pre kick off, then that is it !

By then, the sheets are seperated and each team secretary has a copy of the opponents sheet so changes after that would be deemed highly irregular !!

The way BDC is coming across, is that the player was not on the teamsheet but started the game.

Not wishing to speak out of turn, but if the above IS the case, then rules/laws have definitely been broken.

Karen  -  I really wish you would add your thoughts on this matter, as it technically this is one of your forums.

Ok, so I'll clarify . . .

Lee Armitt's name was entered on the London Colney teamsheet vs Hertford Town yesterday and then crossed out following the team warm-up.

His name was replaced by another player and then the teamsheets were then exchanged and approved by the officials.

I read out the teams from the approved teamsheet over the PA and Armitt's name was still missing (Yes, I was looking to see if he started as a dangerous player) yet he started and scored.

Our match secretary and gaffa were both bemused as he wasn't named in the starting line-up.

I'm guessing the ref wasn't aware of the late change either but left early due to a family emergency before we could ask him about it.

So in this case, London Colney have played an ineligible player right?

Am I right here or are you allowed to change a line-up once submitted to the ref & opposing club without consulting either?

Rule 8.11.2

Any club altering its team selection or numbering after Team Sheets have been exchanged may be fined. A Player who is named on the Team Sheet may be replaced without fine if he is injured warming up after the exchange of the Team Sheet. Any subsequent changes must be notified to the referee and to a representative of the opponents before the actual kick off.

So he's initially named . . . injured in warm-up . . . replaced and teamsheets exchanged . . . then starts anyway without approval from officials or opposing team.

So this is a contravention of the league rules right?

If so, is it a fine, a replay or non-result???

We've fallen foul of the league rules before and justly paid the penalty.

We submit our paperwork diligently now and expect the league to chalk off Armitt's appearance and the goal he scored whilst being on the pitch ineligibly.

Thank you Karen !

Having read through the all the above yet once AGAIN, and as a totally independent observer, (I AM awaiting my call from United Nations),,,,,,,  YES  - There is an infringement here.

Still  -  It is a matter for the League and the F.A. so I won't hold my breath.

At 68 and counting, I feel a well needed doze coming on.

Sounds like they've sent a sniper under the door way there, i'd be fuming if i've warmed my side up, done the team talk& sent the lads out to defend against Nicklas Bendtner and then Theirry Henry(prime) walked out and kicked off instead.

thats something I would call a "light switch decision" by Colney there.

You will probably be asked if you want to replay the game, as Colney Heath were last season against, wait for it, London Colney. First game drew, LC won the replayed game.

. . . and give them another chance to take the 3 points? After they have already done this kind of thing before? No chance, want the points!

Are you a committee member at Hertford these days Col?
